Subject: How to clean this quilt?

My mother made a crazy quilt from scraps of fabric left over from sewing projects my sisters and I made during our 4-H years. I don't know if it has taken on the smell of her old oil furnace or if it is something else (a lot of her things smell this way), but it is not something anyone is going to want to snuggle under! I've washed it, soaked it in washing soda and then vinegar, and laid it out to dry outside...all suggestions I've found for quilts when I googled--but it still smells the same.

Does anyone have suggestions?
