That is beautiful Connie. I missed this talk as well, not unusual for me, I miss most things on here. I have a box especially for bits and pieces for crazy quilts. I have some velvet that was sent to me by a lovely young lady (thanks Jess). I couldn't find any here at the time. I have found some since and at $34 per mitre still have not bought any here. There is not much in the second hand shops either that I would use, it is mostly stretch that I have found and it seems way too stretchy. I have some satin left over from my sister's wedding dress which is really pretty and bits of lace etc. I will try soon to get something done.

Midge, I'd be happy to share some bits and pieces of my stash.  I have a small selection of velvets and velveteens - mostly royal blue, burgundy and green, and quite a few pieces of satins and tafettas - most are left from back when I sewed wedding apparel.  I've got more than I'll ever use, so I'll sort through some in the next few days and toss a selection in a package for you.

Midge, I don't have as much as Nola, but I am happy to share. I have some yellow and black striped satin, some lavender lace fabric, sand colored silk; will look and see what else I can come up with. Nola, I would be willing to trade some with you as well, if you are interested.

Thanks so much ladies!! These two pieces represent sooooooo many hours of happy stitching!!! And it is certainly a treat to get to work with some different fabrics. I really like the brocades!!

Sure, Meg, I'll be happy to swap some fancy fabric with you.  Just let me go through my stash in the next few days and see what I've got.  Most of mine is plain - but somewhere there's a gorgeous piece of cream satiny stuff with little flowers on it - got it for a blouse and never made it - doubtful if I ever will since I mostly wear flannel and denim now.  And somewhere there's a piece of real honest to goodness antique striped taffeta-type fabric - I think it's brown and cream - probably from the late 1890's-early 1900's - just have to find it.

Will get back with you on this in a couple days - and if I forget, remind me.

Hey ladies -

Wow, sounds like you have a wonderful idea for a swap/exchange. If you do it, you might think of starting a thread in member led swaps so that others can join the fun too!

This is good news!

I missed the first one as I was not active at the Q&N at that time, but I sure hope to be there for this next session.

Thank you, Jacqui, for running a Part 2!

Connie, you first two blocks are just beautiful!!!

I have never done crazy quilting. I have seen some very old crazy quilts in the New England Quilt Museum and thought they were fascinating. They have one set on a bed (although they note that crazy quilts were more decorative than functional) in a Victorian bedroom display and they have several in wall exhibits.

I have always thought I would like to try this.

Should I collect materials between now and the May session so I am ready to start one?

Thought I'd "bump" this one up for ya :)

OH shucks, I'll be out of town for the 2nd discussion...BUT it's not like I have ANY time for a NEW project, anyway!

A "traditional" crazy quilty is on my list of "to do someday" projects!!
