Magnolia's in Britian? Who knew. It's beautiful (I can't grow them here, way too dry!)

Growing up on a farm in KS, we had those cacti growing all over our pastures. We didn't have a clue that they were edible until Hispanic families used to come out & ask if they could harvest them. They would cart them out by the bushel & told us how they fixed them. That was sure a surprise to us.

Your gardens are beautiful.

Jacqui, I've never seen pink magnolias! How pretty! We had a "dwarf" magnolia in our front yard but ended up having to cut it down...it was too close to the house and was getting too big. Just goes to show that home builders don't have a clue about landscaping! I'm not sure if there is any such thing as a dwarf magnolia, or if ours was dwarf or not...it was sure getting big - branches rubbing off the shingles and garage floor cracking. We really miss it, though. Our back yard has nothing but grass and I keep suggesting to Mark that we should plant a magnolia in the middle!

Thanks, everyone ... I am really enjoying stopping in here and looking at all the pretty flowers and gardens ... not too many flowers here yet although I did see many daffodils in sunny spots amd the early trees were flowering during our travels on the weekend ...

my pansies are doing well ...

Here is some more pictures, for your viewing pleasure.

My flowers are not all together, not like Sally's in beds. I have them scattered everywhere.

The roses by the fence are right outside my bedroom window. The others are down by the gate. The mini Iris's are outside my kitchen window. The white Iris's are just now starting to open, so I snap thier picture soon.

here's a few I just took of garden--some wouldn't shrink small than over 100 so I'll make an album! (Jess, Cindy and Connie--feel free to delete album of flowers if I shouldn't have made it!)

I started an album on Photobucket.... here is the link.... but meanwhile, I needed to share a few pics....
This fern will be 4' across and nearly 3 1/2 feet tall by mid June.

This is what it looked like a week and a half ago, when i cleaned off all the old dead fronds.

this is what it looked like this morning as I was leaving for work....

We have 5 of those huge fir trees, on a 75 x 130' lot!!! I gave up on veggies about 4 years ago.... not enough sun. I've decided that native plants such as ferns, plus hostas, hardy fuchsias, and a few other shade lovers are the only thing I'll plant in the ground. I do put some annual color in pots and window boxes. I'll most likely do that in the next couple of weeks. 6 years of nursery management taught me to be patient..... it is so hard tho.... I want color, I want it now!
