Prayers going out to everyone in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, who are in the path of the Red River! It's only been 12 years, since so many homes were flooded to the roofline in areas by the Red River, and it is still rising... days away from cresting,

Post Hurricane Katrina type flooding in New ORleans is what they are predicting in areas that the Red River flows through. Fargo, and others.

Sandy, I just looked at a map, and I think you are further south in a different basin, am i correct. Hope so.... I also noticed that you are not far from Mitchell. My parents both had family that lived in Mitchell, Bell Fourche, and Winner. My great granma and granpa both passed away in Winner.

Meg, where are your kids living? Are they in the affected area?

Gerda--We ourselves are in no danger from the flood but it certainly is a hot topic wherever you turn. It is scary to think of the possibility of miles and miles of water where there is normally loads of activity. It is scary to hear it could be worse than 1997 for the entire area through the Dakotas and north right to our city. Winnipeg's floodway has been fortified since then.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that, Agnes! I remember the horrifying pictures on TV the last time. Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks everyone for your good thoughts and prayers for our areas.  Yesterday in SD we had flood warnings (the James River runs through our town), tornado warnings (missed us, but were in Nebraska and Iowa), and blizzard warnings all at the same time.     Lucky for me, they all missed us.  Am keeping all those affected by flooding and the tornadoes in my thoughts and prayers.

Denise, Mitchell is where I have to go for fabric shopping now.  What a small world.             Sandy
