Random quote: Laughter which cannot be suppressed is catching. Sooner or later it washes away our defences, and undermines our dignity, and we join in it -- ashamed of our weakness, and embittered against the cause of its exposure, but no matter, we have to join in, there is no help for it -- Mark Twain

Beautiful work everyone!

Jenn... I just read your project, and now I have the preamble song from Schoolhouse Rock stuck in my head! Does anyone remember those but me? That is a lot of work to go through only to have to rip it out. I hope you can find some compromise.

HA!  i remember when the school house rock was brand new to saturday mornings and then when they enjoyed a renewed popularity when the girls were little . . . so yeah, i am telling my age!

i finished amanda's ringbearer pillow this afternoon.  she & trey finally set a date of february 14 - her nat'l guard just got orders for iraq on june 1st.  nothing like hearing that kind of news to make you quit procrastinating, is it?  billye lynne & josh's will look like this one only instead of the purples there will be blues and the lace trim will be different too.

very cute! I've been searching for something I can use for a pillow for our bed. Not a wedding sampler, per se, but something of a wedding nature. Everything I find is either cheesy, screams 1980s, or is just ugly. Our bedroom (currently) is ivory, and black. We have this bedding:

But I've been wanting to make something new for our bedroom that is a little more colorful...perhaps this quilt:

So I'd like to make a throw pillow that might compliment this quilt. I guess I'm gonna end up designing something for myself, though it isn't something I have alot of experience with.

Hey Jenn, is that Taylor's Tulips from Burning the Midnight Oil? I just ordered that pattern! Small world.
I always make shams or pillow cases (or throw pillows) from extra blocks from the quilt. In this case I'll be doing a couple of extra Lemoyne stars. It will be my first 'real' applique quilt--no fusing this time!

I thought it looked familiar... I was just on that site last week. I love that quilt. Jenn, will you do it in yellow and blue? or do you have another color combo in mind?

it is Taylor's Tulips! I gotta get the pattern ordered. I think I want to keep with yellow and blue, but I'll probably not use white for the background. I was thinking more of a very soft yellow or blue for the background. kids+white=bad.

Jenn, if you wanted cross stitch, why not pick one of the stars in the quilt, enlarge your line drawing of it (from the pattern??) and cross stitch it - shouldn't be that hard! I think it's a great idea!!

Jenn, I love the idea of a pale yellow or blue background! there is alot of background in that quilt, and with kiddos, you wouldn't have to worry so much, (although looking at the pic of your bedroom, that doesn't look like it's a problem) ivory and neat as a pin! A mottled background with some texture/ shading to it would also hide little spots.

Jenn, while looking for a pattern the other nite, I ran across a cross stitch sampler pattern I have that is patriotic/americana. It's the verse from "America the Beautiful" that is about our military personell. "oh beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife, who more than self their county loved, and mercy more than life! America, America may God they gold refine, til all success be nobleness, and every gaiin divine." approx 10x11 on 27 count cloth. Mostly the words of the verse, in backstitch, with a simple stripe/star border. It has room for the name and branch of a military person at the bottom. I remember you posting awhile back about your Americana theme. I am not going to use it, would you like me to mail it to you? PM your address to me and I'll send out this next week sometime.

oh ha! That is NOT my bedroom! That is just a picture from online of my bedding!!! ROFL Believe me my house is NEVER that clean. We have a very traditional oak headboard/footboard bed, and the bedding I have I got before I met Zach, so my bedroom was not done with him in mind. It is ok, but it is starting to show signs that it needs to be replaced. Since my favorite color is yellow and his is blue this looked like a great way to bring both into the room and make it more relaxing. The current color scheme isn't really a reflection of us, it just is what we had.
