Would every one just take a moment to say a little prayer for all the firefighters out in the bush fighting wildfires. Both here and in California. B. C. Like California is subject to firestorms. My Papa is out there fighting a wildfire some careless campers started. To make it worse it was started on his private property, the cabin is gone and the woods are destroyed, and worse yet he might be held responsible. Because it was his property, even though started by trespassers. So just keep them all in your thought.

Becca, we usually have some bad brush fires here in FL, too. Firefighters have a really dangerous job...I'm thankful for them every time I see them responding to a call! We had a very minor fire here at work a while back and the FD sent about 4 trucks and really checked everything out thoroughly before they allowed us back in the building.

Right after I posted this I saw a story on the Internet about a firefighter shot & killed in St. Louis this morning when they responded to a call. He was only 22 years old! Several others were wounded, too.

Oh Becca I'm so sorry to hear of your Dad's situation. I will pray that the powers to be will realize he is a victim in this situation and has suffered quite a loss!!

Donna that is a horrible tragedy. I will pray for the family and the firefighters that knew this brave young man.

You know I get so frustrated sometimes when I hear a siren coming down the street and I struggle to get to the curb and so so many drivers think they can just slip thru before the fire trucks or ambulances come by. Don't they realize that someone's Mom, and someone's child is waiting on that emergency rescue!!!! Surely as a nation we can pull together and help our emergency workers rather than consider a few brief moments on the side of the road to allow them free access is an extremely small price to pay to do what little we can to help them on their way to saving someone's WORLD!!!

Sorry I got on my soap box, but this is one of my biggest pet pieves!!!

Connie

I come from a family of Firefighters (my Daddy, baby brother, my DH, my son, and myself). I say a little prayer every day that all firefighters stay safe! Becca, I'll keep all involved in my prayers!

I hear you Connie!!! One time when responding to a fire, we followed a car for about 4 miles before they looked in the rear view mirror and saw us...they paniced (sp) and went up on the curb...then had the nerve to call the sheriffs office and tell them "WE RAN THEM OFF THE ROAD!!!" We didn't, but we sure thought about putting the truck in ramming gear!

And another one...people that don't pull over as a sign of respect for a funeral procession! Those were things that would get my butt whooped when I got home if my Dad heard about it. No chasing the fire truck or ambulance either! That was a big whooping and grounded for life!!! I don't think that they teach that stuff in Drivers Education anymore...it's to bad!!

Becca, will keep your grandfather in my thoughts and prayers.  I too hope the authorities see him as being hurt by this and not the one responsible!

Donna, will also keep the family of that young firefighter and the other wounded ones in my thoughts and prayers.  Too bad there are such kooks out there who would do such a thing!              Sandy
