Glad you're home Milica.  Aside from the blisters, how is your knee doing?  Do you have a brace?  How are you getting around?  Hoping you heal up quick!     Sandy

Hello everyone, Sandy to answer your question Milica has a temporary splint until they can put the cast on. She has a walking frame and crutches ... I would imagine the crutches are for later though lol. She is obviously exhausted but hopefully she will gain strength and catch up on sleep now she is home. I have passed on the fact that you are all rooting for her and she is very touched, I know as soon as she is feeling up to it she will pop in and say Hi :):)

For now Thank You on her behalf for your lovely messages of support :)

Jacqui

Hi Ladies

I'm back....!!
I am feeling a little better now that I have been plastered at last! I had my surgery on the 23rd May which was a Tibila Osteotomy which involved taking bone from my hip to insert into the Tibila. After coming round from the op I soon realised that they hadn't taken any bone from my hip so I obviously had a donor bone inserted. To cut a long story short, the nurses were supposed to change my dressings the morning after the op but they didn't do so until I complained of extreme pain on Tuesday evening where they discovered that the dressing had hardened and had caused severe blistering on the operated leg. As a consequence had to postpone the plaster cast and have the leg unsupported for nearly two weeks until the blisters were practicalloy healed!!!
I am now comfortable although still in some pain and have a frame and crutches to contend with for 12 weeks until the cast comes off.
Thank you all for your good wishes - Jacqui kept me in the loop.

Milica

WELCOME BACK

I can't even begin to imagine what a pain that must be to go through. Thankfully I've never had a cast or anything like it to contend with, though I did fracture my foot one time, but that was from my own stupidity :P

Keep off that leg as much as you can so you can rest up and heal properly...sounds like you've already had quite the time of things, so take it easy now and get caught up on all your reading and such! :)

Milica, I'm so glad to see you're back! And glad you're feeling at least somewhat better.

I kind of understand what you're going through. When my sister was about 5 or 6 years old she had surgery on her legs (back of the knees) and had casts on both legs while they healed. They tried to get her up on crutches, but the heavy casts would slide down and rubbed her feet raw. So then they tried double sided tape on the upper end to keep them in place, and the tape caused blisters, etc. on her thighs! She was pretty miserable until those casts came off.

I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Thank you Ladies for your concern - I know that the nurses were in the wrong but they were short staffed and over worked so I have forgiven them for their tardiness.  It is the powers that be and the system that are at fault and not the nurses (except for one maybe and I will give you her name if you wish!! lol)

I went to my parent's today as it was my mum's bday last week and I was unable to see her then.  The drive was comfortable but the getting in and out of the car and over the front door step was terrifing to say the least.  Poor Geoff had to lift me over the threshold 4 times and as some of you know I am no slim jim!! lol  He has muscles now poor love!  lol

Hope you all had a great weekend.
