Good morning all, Hope you had a wonderful Easter.  I'm in Florida now.  Came on the 24th of March, cruised with our whole family to Mexico and western Caribbean, back to Ft Lauderdale on the 31st, then came to Cocoa with our daughter and her family.  spent the day at Kennedy Space Center yesterday and saw the launch.  Grandkids ages 12 and 13 were pretty bored until it happened, but liked a few of the interactive things indoors.  Grandson loved the alligators we saw down south, grand daughter has been good except for when a spider crawled on a lady in front of her - Brianna freaked and screamed!  :>)  I'll be missing our lqg meeting next Sat, but the vice pres said she could handle the meeting.  We're doing a challenge quilt this summer.  I'm looking for new projects for our group and would welcome any suggestions!

DH and I fly back to the cold and snow on the 10th.  Chris and her family fly out of Orlando today.  :(   Weather report yesterday predicted 5" of that white stuff in Minneapolis, sure hope that didnt happen.  Brianna needs to get back to her kitties!  Kids were wishing for another day away from school, so they're probably hoping it does.

Awww, it's been a wonderful vacation, but ends today. We're flying back to the frozen SD today from Orlando. Donna, we drove through Winter Garden on the turnpike yesterday. What a lovely road! Imagine the town is great too. Have a great spring everyone. Hope you're getting sewing done.

Sandy, sorry to miss you, but we were cruising the west side of Mexico! Glad you had a good trip and hope you made it home safely.

We got off our ship around 10 a.m. and are now at LAX waiting for our 2:50 flight home. If all goes according to plan we should make it home around midnight.

We had a great cruise! Loved Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan not so much. Too touristy and too many people getting in our faces about buying stuff.

Hi Ladies,

Sandy and Donna, sounds like you both had a wonderful time! How fun to go on cruise's, I've never been.... doubt I'll ever be. lol

My sweetheart had heart surgery on Feb 28th. He's had a lot of bumps since then: medicine issues, cold, allergies, tummy issues, figured out a rib or two was cracked from the surgery... poor guy. He is on the mend though. He just wants to get better so he can get on with life. Meanwhile, the kids are doing things for him, he is overseeing. lol... garden stuff, a new water tank...things like that.

Me, I'm doing ok. The weather has been it's usual wintery self, it's how our April is mostly...rain and bits of snow, with some warm sun thrown in. I've been doing some sewing, working on some leftover hst's; made a new purse and wallet set and a sew together bag for myself... pictures are on my blog.

Hope all is well with you all.

Oh Dorian, so sorry your DH had to have heart surgery and complications after that! Hope he continues to heal up without too much pain. Good luck to your whole family. You've raised good kiddos to help out.

Donna, glad you enjoyed most of your cruise. I'm sorry we missed each other too. One of my cousins and her family travel to Puerto Vallarta every year and loves it.

It was chilly but dry when we got back to SD from Florida on the 10th, but on Friday the 13th and most of Sat the 14th we had a blizzard with 50 mph winds. When we got out to try removing snow from the drive, there was a 38 inch drift on our front door step. Roger had to run the snow blower on top first, then dig down with it to get the rest of the snow blown. I used the shovel and scraped the remainder from the drive - it was all wet heavy white stuff. Most of it has melted now and there are some green blades of grass trying to peek out. 50 and 60's for the weekend and part of next week, so it should disappear fast. Yay!
Roger's sister and I are building a quilt for another of their brother's first grandchild. It's reminding me of the quilts we used to build on this site. SIL lives in Colorado, so there's email, texting, and pictures flying back and forth. I'm also quilting for friends and building a 90 X 102" top with 12" blocks. Each block has 79 pieces in it.
Take care gals. Good to hear from you.

Dorian, I’m so sorry to hear about your DH’s health issues! I hope he continues to heal and get stronger every day.

Sandy, I hope Spring has finally come! We were sailing into strong winds on Fri 4/13. The ship was pitching so much it was hard to walk.

This weekend we are starting a new project - replacing the carpet and laminate flooring in the whole house with engineered bamboo. Last night we got all the furniture out of the master bedroom and got the carpet and tack strips out. Now we're putting down the underlayment and should be able to start laying floor soon!

Donna, good to hear from you. I'm so glad we didn't have winds that strong on our cruise! WOW. Good luck with your bamboo flooring. Isn't it amazing what they can make from bamboo? We bought bamboo shirts for presents (and a couple for ourselves) while in the Caribbean.

Spring has sprung! Yay! We have green grass showing around the remaining snow piles. Yesterday, our LQG met to make QOV. Got 3 tops completed. We'll give out 6 in November to local vets. Since there are only about 3 - 4 of us sewing these, 3 - 4 cutting and pressing, it takes awhile to get things accomplished, but we keep plugging away. Too many local vets are passing away before we can honor them. :(

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Happy stitching!
