Happy New Year to you all.  Still frigid here in SD, so am staying in where it's warm and starting another quilt top today.  Hoping your day and this year is a good one.

Good morning Ladies,

Donna, Sandy and anyone else, you guys ok with all that cold and snow? We have a bit of wind and touch of rain and temps in the 40s and 50s, I wonder if we'll get some snow/cold in the Spring this year... as we often do have more snow in the Spring than the Winter. lol

Not much going on around here, just the normal everyday stuff. We had a good Christmas and didn't stay up to bring in the New Year, I just can't stay up late anymore.. probably cause I get up so early. lol

Take care all, hope those in the cold regions are doing ok.

Hi, ladies! Dorian, we've had cold weather all week - in the 30s overnight and only up to 50 in the daytime. It's supposed to start warming up this weekend.

Last weekend we went to DC to visit my sister. We flew up Friday night and home Monday night. It snowed about 1/2" overnight on Friday. We didn't get to see it falling, but it was the most snow I'd ever seen! It was very cold there - highs only in the teens. We stayed indoors as much as possible!

Hi everyone, It warmed up to 24 above yesterday and snowed about another 2 inches, so I was out shoveling in the wind in the afternoon. Roger had left shoulder repair in November, so shoveling is up to me this winter. Today is much colder, it's warmed up to 5 above by now. We started the day at minus 5. Just after New Year, I was using the snow blower and it tipped over on top of me. Luckily I got the blade shut off and it out of gear somehow. Only thing that was hurt was my pride and tailbone. That frozen sidewalk is HARD! Went back to my exercise class today and was able to do everything except one of her exercises, so Yay for the healing tailbone!
Today, I'm working on the back for the top I started Jan 1. It's just wide strips and chunks of left over purple fabrics. Maybe this quilt will be done sometime this month? Our local quilt guild is having a spring retreat the end of Feb, so am looking forward to that. Our guild is hosting the state guild in September and we're hoping to make it a turkey theme. We've been looking at free patterns for turkey favors, table runners, and centerpieces to make. We only have 20 members and expect about 90 folks to come for the state guild meeting. We'd better get busy on these turkey things! Our town has a large turkey processing plant and process about 1000 turkeys daily for restaurants and grocery stores. We're hoping the plant will let the members have a tour on one of the days state guild is here. Wish us luck getting this in place.

Sandy, did Roger have rotator cuff surgery? I hope his recovery is going well! It's been almost a year since mine. It finally has almost full range of motion, though it's still weak. After I finished phys. therapy I fell out of the habit of exercising it. For the last month or so I've been working on it again, so hopefully it will get stronger. I am back to playing handbells, so that's great!

I went to the Mancuso World Quilt Show yesterday. It's in the convention center next door to my hotel, so I left work early and walked over. There were a lot of art quilts, which aren't my thing, though I can certainly appreciate the talent and creativity that go into their creation.

I've been working on a large cross stitch picture that has been underway for many years. The pattern is divided into four sections, one large one and three smaller ones, and I'm almost done with stitching the largest section. It's very slow going, but maybe with another few weekends of work I can finish that section. By then I'll be ready to do something else again!

We've had a very long stretch of cold weather. It's been down below freezing several nights, and many days have only gotten into the 50s. (I know, that's not really cold to most people, but for FL it is!) Our normal winter weather is to get cold for a day or two then warm back up. I'm ready!

Hi Ladies,

It's rainy and cool here, we have been getting  a day here and there that gives us a touch of snow, then it warms up just enough to rain more. We need it though, so I am not complaining.. I would just like a bit more snow

Sandy, ouch! I hope your tailbone is much better now. Healing prayers to Roger. Good luck finding turkey patterns.

Donna, I'm glad your weather isn't that bad, I hear some of FL got snow, that must of been amazing. Nice you took out a project that you have been working on for a long time, I hope you can get it completed.

I've been working with some HST's that came from one of Jess's patterns that I tested awhile back. I loved the fabric so much, I made sure to keep all the HST's and scraps together so I could do something with them one day. Lately I've been getting in the sewing room every day, it's been really nice!

Take care everyone.
