ugh, i had this typed and suddenly disappeared and was booted out!!

lets try again....

this was started in may for DH birthday but finished the quilting and binding this past week.

it has a lot of firsts in it for me :)

first paper piecing, first quilt in which i did not follow a pattern.  i wanted to make him a compass rose

as he likes to sail and likes old classic boats.  it is simple and lots of open space as i only used to main blocks.

most complicated fmq i have done so far.  i really could have done much more with the open spaces but was pressed

for time.  it was fun though to do more fmq and i thought of lots of things i could have done.  if you look closely you

will see where the problems are, but i learned much thru this project and got much practice so the next one will be better.

also tried a new binding technique that really helped get it on better, glue!

im learning to get over my perfectionism thru quilt therapy

puppy had to try it out of course lol.

Trisha,
Very nice, but it looks like your puppy may have laid claims on it!!
I have always admired compass quilts, may have to give it a try......

I like it, Trish! Especially the sawtooth border around the compass. What a neat project to learn new techniques!

Oh, Trish! I'm glad you didn't break anything! You'll need to get up and move around the plane when you can. Have a GREAT trip!

Ouchy Trish!  As a nurse, you'll know how to prevent a blood clot by moving around as much as you can while on the plane.  Good luck.  Wishing you lots of fun with your daughter.

Thanks sallie ( nice to see you here again 😊)
And debbieanne ! ( how goes the recovery?)
Dorie requested some close ups, will see what i can do this week 😉
The border is a print on which i quilted along the design already there, so made it easier
For this beginner, but still gives it a nice look. Ok... Cheating..... Hehehe
I had a hugggeeee bruise for the entire time i was in italy and could not lie on that side
For a few days. It was gorgeous purple color and about 4 inch wide and twice as long!

What is everyonr working on this month??
