I didn't make this, but Got to see this quilt and designer in person over the weekend when I took a class on Lone Star quilts from Vi Colombe.  She is an amazing artist!  The quilt top I'm making is nothing like these, but I did learn a lot from Vi.  Also took a class from Ellen Anne Eddy on thread painting http://www.ellenanneeddy.com/ .  It'll be a LONG LONG  time before I'm any good at either of these!  My attempt of the Lone Star is at the bottom.  Haven't decided on the background yet...still auditioning to make it shine.

Beautiful quilts, Sandy! Yours is lovely - great colors! Your classes sound like fun. I had a thread painting class with Nancy Prince several years ago. I agree - it would take a long time to get good at it!

Your attempt as you say Sandy is beautiful, some years ago I took a feathered star quilt class at our local quilt shop but the owner lost the paperwork so will have to finish this quilt off myself sometime - on my ever growing ufo list
