Hello, Threadheads! I am looking for guidance on Sue's log cabin. Her BD isn't till March 19 but who knows how long it takes mail to get to Scotland?!

Sue, are you out there? I haven't seen a post from you in a while. You wanted traditional log cabin blocks...I assume 12" ones? Also, what width for the "logs"?

Tiffaney - I mailed your block today. I forgot to mail it last week so it might be a few days late.

Donna - what width of logs did you use when making Sue's block?

Cindy, I ended up using one of the LCs in EQ and made a 12" block...the logs were cut 2" wide and the center square was cut 3-1/2". For a 12" block it would probably look better with a smaller center block and an extra round of logs, but hopefully Sue will like the one I made. I used the traditional red in the center.

good morning,

dh says he would take stuff to the PO today for me. i have four envelopes going out!

never having made a log cabin block before, (although its one of my favorite looking block) and not entirely
sure what made it "traditional" other then the red center; i used the one on quilter's cache. 1 1/2 inch logs and 2 1/2 x red
center. 5 lights, 5 darks. she says traditional prints, not entirely sure what are or what are not lol. guess that means no
batiks! anyways, i love the way it came out, i think it looks traditional.

one question about the birthday blocks? should i be signing them somehow?

I think I will go with 1 1/2" logs and the 2 1/2" red center as well.

thanks for the pattern info, donna & trish!

trish, i'm like you, i know that the red center is traditional - but what fabrics are traditional for the logs?

Cindy, I used dark-ish greens & blues for the dark side and off white for the light side.

I am so glad that I am not the only one that doesn't know what a "traditional" log cabin is.
