Dorian- I hope you and yours are safe, thinking about you lots and wishing I could send some of our heavy showers your way.  It does sound like you are being taken care of by the authorities, I just hope all their diversion tactics are working.

Stay safe, lots of (((((((Hugs)))))))))) and prayers xx

Wednesday update

Our landscape has been drastically changed. Some of for the good, we now have our orchard area all cleaned out and ready for us to plant :) LOL. We can now drive up to our house on an almost brand new dirt road, and go all the way around it.

Yes Sally, the IC! Amazing. The crews have been wonderful. The trucks have been guarding our house all night. The aircraft, including a few Airforce ones, have been just amazing.

The fire did get to our place (they weren't able to back fire) and has been slow burning below the fire line all night. Slow burn is good, the men can control it.

Unfortantely the fire took off on the other side of the canyon and burned like a bat at of hell up towards another small town :(

The whole fire is only 40% contained.

I  don't have anymore news right now. It's called the ponderosa fire, and we are at the SE end.

Dorian, glad to hear you're still doing okay. The news on this fire is terrifying!

Thursday update

It looks like the worst has passed. They backfired last night, and this morning it's nice and quiet out there. Not as smokey. The fires have moved up canyon, I know they were having a very hard time with them up there yesterday. The sky actually looks normal right now, I think I even  see a star or two :)

Thank you all so much, for your prayers and good thoughts. I will update more later this morning, when it's light and I can see and Doug walks around and looks. But I think they have it all under control/out down at my end now.

We'll still have a fireman or two around today, to do some cleanup and make sure all spots of fire are out. That backfire was just amazing! Something I hope never to experience again. Very scary. You hear so many times how a backfire went wrong.

The fire is 55% contained all around. So lots of prayers for the area is still needed, but our 'firebase' is pretty secure now... I THINK. lol

Dorrian - I've seen footage on TV of the Ponderosa fire..... and I'm sure it's even more terrifying when your home is the incident center.....  The new road sounds great!  as does the  orchard that sits ready for you.... but I'm sure that your views of the canyons will be changed forever......   Prayers continue for everyone in your area as they work to contain the other 50% of the fire, and for favorable weather.

Thanks for the updtates.... I've been so worried about you and your family.

Dorian-
I've been watching your area on the news, and I can't even imageine what you are going through!!
Prayers that no one will be hurt, and that the fires can be contained quickly.

I will probably be able to send a zebra and some snails and puppies your way by the beginning of the week, hopefully things will be calmed down a little by then.
