Pieces for crazy blocks could be "beginnings" and "enders" for other stitching - speeds up the crazy blocks and you hardly know the block is being sewn till it's done.

jacqui, sandy, as far as i am concerned, this project is revived as you take the notion to make any of these blocks, do so, then mail them to me and when i get enough for a top, i'll piece it then holler for volunteers for backing & binding fabrics, batting and quilting - how does that sound?

i am going to post pics of leftover blocks that i have here at the house - the first is some bright Woven Ribbons blocks - they will look fantastic with some bright & bold Crazy Blocks - i have 6 of these.

second, i have 7 (there are two alike of the bottom left corner block) of these Happy Blocks - these colors are not quite so bright, but will still look fantastic with some less-bright Crazy Blocks.

third, i have 4 of these Woodland-Wild Life Irish Chain blocks.

these blocks can be the start of our first 3 quilts - what y'all think?

I can make some more of these woodand Irish chain blocks... I have lots of little pieces left from my King size duvet that would work great!    how many more do we need ???.... Cindy has 4... Sharon has 2.... Midge might even have a few left. as she pieced a couple of those tops.... I'll stitch some up during my winter break... I was just looking at those pieces last night as I was cutting for my scrap users system (putting away bits and pieces from several finished projects)... and tucked a zip lock of those deer, bear, moose and elk back into my "woodland" drawer.   They'll make excellent centers!

wonderful, denise!  i think i have all of midge's leftover blocks - that's where the 4 i have came from   i'll have to check my scraps too before i mail to sharon.

denise, you're talking about bonnie hunter's scrap saving system?  i've been looking at her system and reading and thinking    what do you keep your scraps in to keep the different sizes separated?  i've got scraps in 3 of those large popcorn tins (you know, the gift you receive at christmas from someone who doesn't know what to get you those empty tins come in handy )  i need to seriously get my scraps into sizes so they can be used rather than merely occupying popcorn tins

Cindy... Yes.. Bonnies system..... Right now... I'm cutting mostly squares.... some bricks....  and then the last little bit of each piece goes into 'crumbs".....

So far... I have them in baggies.... by general color and size... ie:  (2" red squares.(green crumbs)... etc.   I still have come cutting to do tonite.... and I think I'm going to have to find a better method..'cuz some of my baggies are getting full.

My strings are sorted by colors.... and Neutrals.....

My strips were already sorted by sizes.... 1 1/2",  2"  2 1/2"..... anything that is larger than a 4" square, but smaller than a FQ gets sorted by general color category in a small drawer as well.

Those popcorn tubs might be a great idea for the strings.... right now, they are in one of those clear, zipper linens bags.

I think thats a wonderful system, but I'm just not that organised lol I do have different baggies for 'crumbs' strips , small pieces ( any shape lol) medium pieces and larger pieces but they aren't colour co-ordinated or anything. After Christmas I shall start making the crazy blocks again :) I really like them :)

Maybe your baggies are telling you to make a scrap quilt already, Denise. ;-)

A few of us are doing the one Denise uses. We are addicted to organizing scraps now!! Lol. None of us has any scrap quilts planned yet, though. :-)

Ok,  I spent time in the evening all week this last week,  cleaning up the  remains of several projects... and as I mentioned the other night.. it was in ziplock baggies... These were not convenient to use to either get pieces out... or to sort pieces into as i cut.

So.... go to my blog.... Link is at the bottom of this post....  I found a solution!   I might even use these pieces up!

Hopefully you'll be amuzed at my thread story as well.....

Now... don't get me wrong... I still have several  bins and bags of scraps to sort through and  take care of... but i feel like I've made a dent!  The area around my machine is currently scrapless!

I keep all the components of a quilt top together in one of those zipper bags that sheets, etc come in.... and don't pull from it for another project until I'm done with the original project.    I was also just gifted 3 gallon size  baggies of pieces and bits...
