yeah I'll just randomly pair people up, except i'm thinking we shouldn't pair up Jess and Nawma since they're family, but thats their choice if they want to keep that exclusion in place

Gerda, you don't have to sew for this "swap", this is more of a chance to really get to know someone on here much more than through regular posts. When I did this in the past we started talking to each other through private messages or outside email, just between us, which allowed us to get a little more personal or open with our partner. Sometimes we don't feel comfortable sharing everything with whoever might be watching, so this way makes it easier I think. The only real commitment for this swap is the time for talking, in whatever form you and your partner choose to communicate, phone, email, etc. and perhaps a small gift of some kind at the end of the month, whatever that may be. As I said before I sent a gift that represented where I'm from, and had nothing to do with sewing at all.

Please please feel free to jump on in whenever you feel ready to. We can't have too many friends, ya know!

OK, then, put me down!! I'll PM you my info.

Mary, that was the plan, but there are a LOT of homes on the market right now, and it's the slow time of year, AND our realtor hasn't really done much, other than advertising weekly. We did find today, that someone showed the house to someone late last week (of course, with us being sick at home, we didn't find out until today), but we have heard nothing, and there is no way we can pay for rent $960/mo, and a mortgage payment!! so, we have decided to move in in March, and will see from there whether we relist, or live there a while. We would love to build another house, but can't do a lot on a retirement pension!! So, that's it in a nutshell!! :)

I have been thinking about this for a few days.  I am NOT a talker so I prefer e-mails.  This is out of my comfort zone, but I have decided to give it a shot.  So, count me in!

Do I need to send you any info?  If so, what do you need?  This is my first official swap.

ok I have info from Gerda, Jennifer, and Cindy added to my list!

Jennifer...do you go by anything else besides Jennifer, like Jenny? My friends have always called me Jenn, and know never EVER to call me Jenny :) They all seemed to think it was soo funny to call me Jenny (in a Forrest Gump voice) after that movie came out. Grr!

So glad you decided to join us Jennifer!

My 'baby' sister is Jennifer also. About your age JennB, so must of been the popular name of the time. LOL. She goes by Jenny though, always has.

OK, I've been thinking about this and wasn't going to do it because of my hectic life - but then I decided, what the heck!!!  I'll try it for a month since there's doesn't have to be any sewing involved - unless we want to make something.

So put me down, Jenn.  I'll PM you with my info.

I got you added Nola. :)

Yeah, my name was just way too popular when I was born. I can't recall ever having a class or group of peers where I was the only Jennifer. My best friend in elementary school was named Jennifer, and even stranger, we grew up in NE Oklahoma, but we were both born at the same hospital in Bryan, TX, even had the same doctor sign our hospital cards that were on our little cribs in the nursery! To even beat that...my freshman year of college, I started out living in the dorms, and my next door neighbor was named Jennifer Jones (my maiden name), we had the same major, our SSN were only off by 2 digits and we had an almost identical schedule, AND the same workstudy jobs. The administration at the University was forever mixing our information up.

My mom and her sister were both pregnant with their last child at the same time. Both of them wanted the name Jennifer if it were a girl and both of them wanted the name Jessie if it were a boy. LOL.... luckily, one had a boy and one a girl.

Too odd about those coincidences Jenn!

Yep. It made me vow that whenever I had kids, I wouldn't give them weird names, but they wouldn't have the most popular ones either. Unfortunately I didn't have any say in my kid's names, as their father chose both of their names and there was pretty much nothing to be said about them. When we adopt, I let Ashley choose the name for her new sister, and she chose Aleya, which in Hebrew, means precious gift, so that is fitting. I plan to keep her given name as her middle name so she can keep that part of her heritage.

If we have another baby, we'll choose a biblical name for them, probably Rebekah for a girl, and I like Levi for a boy, but we shall see. :D

My teachers and friends called me Jen in school.  My parents call me Jen and Jenniday (Jenni with my maiden name).

Jessica and Larenda (my sister) were freshmen at A&M when I was a senior.  My name for Larenda is Renda.   Jessica and I decided that we would go by the last 2 syllables of our names too.  Jessica became Sica, and I became Niffer (we added an extra "f" so that it didn't look like Knifer).  Sometimes we still call each other that, right SICA????

Hey, when you have the most common name on the face of the earth for your age group, you gotta get creative to find something that nobody else uses...it really does get annoying to hear your name called and 5 other people look up.

At least I dont have the most common last name anymore.  I mean, seriously, how stand-out can you be with the most common first AND last name on the planet?  Maybe if I had been a SMITH it would hae been worse, but JONES? Come on...

Now nobody can spell OR pronounce my new last name, which I couldn't take fast enough after we got married. Beauford is most decidedly a southern name, (pronounced like beautiful), but strangers either say bow-ford, or spell it bUford.  My previous name was Cheatham (pronounced cheat-ham) so I sounded like some shady lawyer....I never liked that name. Perhaps I should have taken it as a clue?

I   my name now, but I supposed alot of that comes from being proud to show off who I get the name from
