I've started cutting the pieces for my batik scrappy braid quilt. These will be added to it. Can't wait to get them... the colors are all so beautiful.

I found a sale down here (had a feeling since they had the same sale last year) at Mcqueens. If anyone is close to Phoenix they need to check out this shop. The fabrics are usually about 6.95 a yard but last week almost everything was 4.95 yd INCLUDING the batiks. WELL, you know me, I just had to shop... bought quite a few pieces. Now this week I found a coupon for 40% off any cut of 6.95 fabric. That's even CHEAPER, so I'm headed back to buy the backing or borders for this quilt. I know I'll never find a better price! Al says no more room in the truck but I know I can find a spot for it.... how much room can a few yards take up?! :)

{{{{{{{Debbieann}}}}}}} ... not your fault ... please do not feel bad, sweetie ... you are not responsible for the vagaries of the postal system ... I have had many packages from Canada take over two weeks to arrive ... sorry you paid extra for air when your packet seems to be traveling surface mail ... nothing we can do but just wait ... and I do not mind ... what is a few days in the grand quilty plan?   I am sure none of the other swappers mind waiting, either... we just get to enjoy the anticipation a little bit longer ...   Pat

Debbieann, it's OUR postal system and Canadian Customs that hold things up - I've heard the same from other Canadians on my groups. It's a royal pain, but there is nothing we can do about it - other than mail waaaaaay earlier than posted dates. And sending it the expensive way (priority or whatever we have here) doesn't make any difference, so save the $$

Debbieann ... your layer cakes have arrived safe and sound!!!

The packet appears to have been mailed just the same method as Katie's so we will never know why hers got here so quickly and yours took two weeks ...

Anyway ... I will set up the swap for tomorrow  ... not sure if I will be able to get everything done in time to get to the post office this Saturday to have everything weighed and checked by the postal worker ... so I am not making any promises for when I shall be able to mail ... except that I will do the best I can ...

... such pretty fabric!!!!!   Pat

Great relief up here now Pat. To kow they are in gentle hands for fondling as opposed to being roughhoused by some postal worker. Aplogogies to any quilters or their immediate family that are in the postal service. That goes for both sides of the border. lol.

Enjoy and have fun.

Thanks for being one of the bestest layer cake swappers. You and Annette are tied for the honour.

Hugs and stitches

I'm soo glad the delayed have arrived! Miss Pat, you just enjoy the swapping and take your time. I keep thinking I need to buy a border piece to type all the colors together, but have caught myself (more than once) cause I don't know what all the colors will be that I get! This way, it delays the final pleasure of planning, deciding, shopping and deciding and buying. It doesn't take much to make some of us happy!

Thank you Pat for hosting this swap. It has been lots of fun.

Annette

Thanks, Annette.

As it turns out, I shall have to be taking my time here. I did not get all the layers swapped today. Life is getting in the way of my playing with the pretty fabric and getting to the post office tomorrow.  Looks like a "wellness check" on my FIL (who lives alone by choice and is in his 90's) is in the works for tomorrow.  This means a long drive starting early in the morning. Sometimes we decide to stay over rather than trek home. Well at least it is not snowing (although the snow there is specific to the clouds over the mountains) ...

... so swapping shall resume Sunday or Monday. I am now thinking that Friday, Feb 18th, will be the big mailing day.

... so enjoy the "anticipation" ... photos taken and will be posted as soon as I can get to it ...

I can tell you ... the fabrics are very fine!!!!!

  Pat

Good Evening and here is the Daily Swap News ... Round 1 is Complete!

We had an impromptu family gathering for dinner so I did not get as much swapping done as I'd hoped, but I did all the walking around part and my back is okay ... probably in part of all the breaks I took ... so it all works out and tomorrow I am begin the sit down and count and stack cakes and 1st check for duplicates part of the swapping.

Here are the piccies from the 1st Round ... enjoy!    Pat
