Hello, Connie,

Thank you so much for the very detailed directions! I was thinking that this might be a rather ambitious pattern for me, but with your tips and tricks, I just may be able to accomplish this beautiful quilt. I also enjoy the historical tidbits about the blocks. So nice!

I am still in the fabric selection stage ... which can be a big one for me ... but I printed the pdf files so I will have everything in hand to start the quilt.

I am looking forward to starting sewing on this in the near future,

So many quilts to make, so little time, :) Pat

Thank you so much Pat! I try to make the instructions detailed enough to enable all our patrons to give it a go! And I am a quilt history buff so all the patterns I design have history tid bits here and there. :) I think it is fun to know where our patterns came from as it brings the past into the present for all of us. :)

Midge would it help if I sent them as an email attachment? If not Jess will be back home soon and we will ask her to help us get this pattern to you.

Thanks for the offer to send them in email, Connie I will take you up on that. It might work. I just cannot understand why I cannot open the file as I have been able to open pdf files before without any problems.

Midge, do you think something happened to your adobe acrobat? Maybe, since it is free, you should try downloading it again, or maybe there is an upgrade to download?!! Sorry if I'm not much help, but I know how frustrating that can be!!!! Wendy

Connie sweetheart could you help me please. You know how my brain cell needs to be in the right hole to understand things... well... I am cutting out my Study of stars and I can't get my brain around the cutting instructions for the background. It says cut two strips wisth of fabric 10&7/8ths, I got that :)  then it says. subcut into six 10&7/8th squares.. ok understand that :). then it says subcut once to make 12 squares. I'm sorry sweetheart but I need help :(... cos when it tells me to further subcut into 4&3/4 squares I can't get my head straight ... does the first bit mean 12 TRIANGLES not squares, and what do I subcut the 4&3/4 squares from?

Sorry to be a nuisance but I desperately want to do this right.

Oh Sweetie you are not a bother at all. In fact you have found something that needs to be corrected on the pattern. You cut the strips 10  7/8", then sub cut six 10  7/8" squares, then you cut those squares in half once diagonally to make 12 triangles. (oops!) Then those pieces are finished. The other sub cuts are made from the remaining fabric from the WOF 10  7/8" strips. I worked it up this way to save some of the fabric that would have been wasted had I instructed you to cut one 4  3/4" WOF strip when you only need one square of that size. The same with the 2  1/4" squares that you need four of and the 2  5/8" squares that you need eight of and will then sub cut into sixteen triangles. Sorry for the confusion sweetie. I have corrected the pattern. In general here is the rule I use to work out the sub cuts.

Cut the WOF

This indented sub cut will be cut from the WOF

This indented sub cut from the sub cut above it.

This indented sub cut will refer back to original WOF strip

Does this indention thing make sense?

Oh Connie thank you so much, it was more the square/triangle bit I couldn't work out. I figured out the rest after I posted sorry.Yes the Indentations do make sense, it was just my foggy brain, once it hit a stumbling block it couldn't get past it. BUt you know my single brain cell... if its not in gear I don't stand a prayer lol.

Bless you for setting me straight sweetheart, you're an angel :):)
