Well you can also pick them, and set them somewhere to rippen. A sunny window in the garage or somewhere they wont freeze.

Yep, I do that quite often, though I find that putting them in a paper bag works really well too. Sammy likes to pull them, so I have to save the green ones!

We are putting a pergola on our deck and I would like to grow some vines on it that won't attract loads of bees. I would like fairly fast growing vines, that grow fairly densely. I have some ideas, but what are your thoughts? What do they grow in those wonderful British gardens? I'm in zone 8b.
