Mr. Mailman, bring Pat a cake. Make it the finest, that Genia could bake!

(I know, I am a dork. What can you do? We are who we are.)

Okay ... here is the bad news ... no package came with my mail today.

Do not ever waste your time with that 1-800-ASK-USPS number or try to use the USPS website for scheduling the redelivery of packages ... even if you try to actually talk with a human ... after another lengthy conversation with two of them there today I have concluded they are (1) useless and (2) do not care ... however I gave them such a hard time I finally beat a local post office number out of one of them ... they are "not supposed to give this out" ...

Here is the good news ... after calling the local guy he has tracked down the  package and the carrier will make a special delivery and will drop off this package today  .. if this happens, Wayne in my local post office, is my new best friend ...

Jess ... keep singing ... maybe it is helping ...      Pat

The post office has finally delivered Genia's package ... the carrier on Monday was not my regular guy, who is usually good about leaving my mail ... so tomorrow, bright and early, I will start swapping ...   Pat

YAY ms pat!  attaway to get their cooperation!  i am a huge believer in knowing your local postal workers . . . course that was real easy back in mississippi ;)  i sure did miss tony and ms. virginia at the batesville p.o. when they retired!  LOL  usps.com is only useful for tracking numbers - when it comes to needing real answers, you gotta go to the local office and talk to someone you know so develop those relationships, folks!

hmmmm me thinks i need personalized swap organization lessons from ms. pat - that table sure looked more organized than the last time i swapped strips . . .

ms. pat!  have fun swapping!!  that is certainly a job i know but at least you get to fondle the fabric whilst you are swapping!

hey jess - it would be a toss-up as to which one of us does anything with her layer cakes first

:Okay ... that was fun but the feet (and eyes) are tired . ...  I did complete the   "big walkaround"   where every square of fabric gets taken out of the boxes and baggies and makes its way   around the table   and into someone's "temporary" stack   ... I am done for the day ... I need to think about dinner ... maybe I will ask my sweet hubby to turn on the grill when he gets home ...

Picture after the last walkaround ... I always swap my fabrics last .... I did take photos along the way ... after dinner I will sit here and make a blog post and then study the stacks ...

There is no way I am going to have this all ready for mailing Saturday morning ... ( sow-ry, everyone ) ... the next part is actually the longest ... going through the stacks,  counting to be sure everyone gets the right number back, putting them in layer cakes, making sure I have not given anyone back their own fabric or unnecessary doubles ... and then I need to go through them all again for a final check and put the sets in their baggies and then seal them up for mailing ... I can accomplish this mostly while sitting down, though ... so I do not get as tired ...

I really do like swapping ... and I do have a pretty good system that works for me ... it just takes me time ... and  do enjoy the fabric along the way ... all the fabrics are soooooooooooo pretty!!!! Pat

Ah ... but there lies the problem, Cindy.   Each one of these packages must be weighed and checked and the ones out-of-country need customs forms ... and the main post office is open 7:30am to 5:30pm weekdays ... but we are a one-car family. My DH takes the car to work and has to be in NH for 8:00am and does not get home until 6:30pm.  I use the automated mailing system in the evening a lot for small items, but most of these packages are over the weight or size limit and cannot be put in the overnight box. That is why I always say I will mail these swap packages on Saturdays and that I promise to mail "two weeks after the last package is received by me."  I could sometimes get a ride with one of my kiddos but both boys do not live here anymore and although my DD is around a lot and has helped me before, her car is dead in the driveway (needs an engine) and she is begging rides and borrowing our vehicle where she can ... so ... it may be Saturday, May 22nd, before I can actually truck these to the post office.    I can only do what I can do ...   Pat

ah-haaaaa!!!  i see what you mean, ms pat   well . . . it they are not mailed until next saturday, then that's the way it will be!  i am sure nobody is going to be hopping mad - so take your time and keep to your system.  after all, it works!  and why mess with a good thing, right?!
