May I please ask for your prayers concerning a friend of my brother's. As you may or may not know my brother lost his wife to cancer over a year ago. A few months back, he was in the grocery store and heard a woman calling his name. It turns out, it was a woman who had been a neighbor of his 20 or 30 years ago. She had been teaching school (English) in China all this time and had only recently moved back to the states.

About a week ago, she recieved a text message on her cell phone from her sister. Instead of calling her back, Roma decides to go to the sister's house. When she left my brother's house, she had only a purse and the clothes on her back, no suitcase. The roads were bad so she decided to take a train from Ann Arbor to Kalamazoo, and catch a bus north to Muskegon/Grand Rapids area. She called my brother from Kalamazoo and said she had missed the bus and would get the one in the morning. He has not heard from her since. Her cell phone goes straight to voice mail; he doesn't know the sister's married name to track her down that way. We are encouraging him to file a missing person's report. Please keep Jim in your prayers, the worry is eating him alive. Please keep Roma in your prayers that she be found safe and sound.

Oh Meg! I hope that he does go to the police. Even if she is just at her sisters, the police will be able to find out for him!! I will keep all involved in my thoughts and prayers. Please let us know how the situation turns out!

The mystery has apparently been solved, but instead of feeling relieved, I am downright annoyed. According to her landlord, Roma called and requested that her mail be taken in for her. Supposedly, she is in California! What?!? How did she get halfway across the country from Kalamazoo? What happened to going to her sister's? What is she doing for clothes?

Hoping that my brother is not considering anything more than a casual friendship with this inconsiderate ..... whatever, I am going to kick him in the pants. Truthfully, I would even be re-evaluating the friendship, if I were him. He is nothing if not loyal and scrupulously honest. And she is obviously a free spirit. Even given that, to tell him that she would be back in two days and nearly two weeks later, she's in another part of the country. Well, I am glad she is not in harm's way, but I think that is a gross misconduct of their friendship.

Thank you all for your prayers on this wild goose chase.

It is great that all is well and she is safe.  You just have to wonder how grown people can be so thoughtless of others.
