A very dear friend of mine (I won't name names) and her hubby have been waiting for a phone call from CPS to adopt a child from the foster care system. They received that call last week and now have in their home a wonderful addition to their family, a 3-1/2 year old girl. As I understand it, they will have to wait 6 months before they can officially begin the adoption process, but they are already very attached to this new little one (as she is to them).

I am sure you can understand that this baby girl has not had the easiest time before coming to her new home, but she is adjusting very well and is a very lovely young girl. Please send out good thoughts and prayers for this wonderful growing family!

(Sorry, I don't want to give too many specifics to protect the confidentiality of the entire situation.)

oh I know how they feel. It is really tough to try and keep "unattached" while bonding at the same time with a child. They are in my prayers. I struggled with whether or not I felt I could be a good foster parent and I decided ultimately that I could not handle the emotional roller coaster of having kids come and go from my home, especially ones that I bonded with quickly, and I would be heartbroken when they had to leave.

We have thought about it again though, as there are a couple of foster families in our church and we've seen the positive experiences they've had so far.

We'll keep them all in our prayers that they will be able to adopt this little girl. 6 months sounds like forever, but it will pass before they know it!

Prayers going up for the legal process to go smoothly.  I know they will provide the loving home that this beautiful girl desperately needs.

How wonderful for them! I'm sure everything will go smoothly with the adoption process.

My friend's brother and his wife put in to adopt 3 boys from foster care in Missouri (I think). The boys are 6, 3 and 2. The prospective parents had an interview 2 weeks ago on a Tuesday evening and that Friday night brought their three new sons home!

OH, Jess. My prayers and hopes are with this new family. I have two different cousins that adopted via CPS, one adopted two brothers, one adopted two sisters. Those kids are the sweetest in the world and had a horrid "pre-family" (my term) life. I find those who adopt in this manner are the ones with the biggest hearts ... well, all who adopt have humongous hearts. :)
