Good Morning friends

I'd like to ask for prayer requests for my niece Kerry, her husband Scott, and their new baby William. Some of you know that Kerry and Scott have been married for 6 years and had been unable to get pregnant. Last year, they were delighted to find that Kerry was pregnant. Before William's birth they became aware of a kidney problem he has. When he was born last week the problem was confirmed and he will need some minor surgery when he is a couple of months old. Then a few days ago, Kerry and Scott received a call from the hospital where William was born. Following routine tests given to new babies, it was discovered that William has a rare genetic disorder called VLCAD Deficiency. Without going into every detail, this deficiency deals with his being able to store energy. So, exercise or even fasting overnight can cause problems. In its most serious forms it can lead to organ failure. Tomorrow they are going to Boston Children's Hospital for more definitive testing and a treatment plan. I can't even begin to describe what a beautiful, loving family these people are, and any prayers would be so appreciated by all of us.

Thanks

Lizzie

I'll definitely keep the family in my thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine how scary that must be for them.

Lizzie, my thoughts and prayers for William and family (and {{{{you}}}}). Poor thing and he's such a beautiful baby. Here's hoping that Boston Childrens can come up with a treatment plan that works wonders.

We'll be happy to pray for little William and his mommy and daddy! Prayer is the least thing that we can do and the most powerful! Consider it done!

Ladies, thank you so much for the prayers. William had his appointment in Boston yesterday. I believe a good deal of the appointment was devoted to some counseling for Kerry and Scott regarding different scenarios that could occur. First, the doctors will not be able to make any definitive diagnosis until William is about 2 months old. He may have VLCAD deficiency which is very serious, however the doctors told Kerry and Scott they believe if William has this deficiency it will likely be in a milder form. It is also possible that he does not have the illness itself, but is a carrier of it. That's all I know at this point, but I'd really appreciate continued prayers for this beautiful baby. Our hope is that he is only a carrier.

Some tentative good news ladies! William's latest blood test results came back. The doctors have said not to get our hopes up too high, but the latest tests were normal! Of course the doctors will continue to follow his progress closely, and they say if he has two or three more tests that are normal they will have to assume the first was a fluke. We are sooooo grateful. Yes, we know he will still need his kidney operation when he is two months old, but the doctors have said that it is a simple procedure and his kidneys are totally fixable. So, keep the prayers coming girls. Looks like they've been doing a good job so far!

Thanks for your love for William
