I know that you all are a praying bunch and I wanted to ask you all to keep my husband Robby in your prayers. Yesterday we were yard cleaning and went to start a fire in a pile of limbs that needed to be burnt and he used gas to start it and it blew up on him. I took him to the ER and they cleaned and bandaged him after getting the pain under control but now I have to do the rest. I have never in my life had a weak stomach but I'm here to tell you, this is BAD! Please pray that I can clean it good enough to keep it from getting infected and he has minimal pain. The main concern is infection. I am going to try to get a follow up appointment with a doctor tomorrow because the amount of Silvadine (spelling?) they gave me is not nearly enough. And NO refills! Can you imagine? I also want them to make sure I'm getting it clean enough. I'll try to keep you posted as much as possible!

oh no, sherry!! prayers going up immediately for robby and for you! good idea about the doc visit to check on your new-found nursing abilities - i would be just as squeamish of you but i think you'll find the strength to do this for someone you love - we always do don't we?

Thanks sooo much! I took Robby back to the doctor today and he said that he also had a few spots that a re 3rd degree burns. He put him on antibiotics, gave him some more pain meds and a huge tub of the ointment! We go back on Friday to make sure it still looks ok. The doctor gave me good reassurance that I had done a good job and told me to keep it up! That made me feel a LOT better! Now I think I can do this. He did say it would take 3 to 4 weeks for this to heal enough to not have to bandage it anymore. So it may be a long road but atleast we kinda know how long now. At the ER they just said "a long time". So my mind is set and I feel better now. I'll keep you all posted on our progress!
Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers!

Sherry, I'm so glad the Dr has given you some confidence in your nursing abilities! After you take the bandages off, or even in a few weeks, rub some Aloe on his burns. It's very healing! I had some bad burns on my forearms and using Aloe after about a week of medicated stuff from the Dr, made it so I have NO SCARS at all.

thanks for all your prayers and concerns. Keep them coming! Robby's right arm is what took the brunt of the fire so it's from just above the elbow to his finger tips. Lots of bends! The bad stuff is on the bottom side of the arm, elbow and top of the hand. And he is right handed so he is learning to eat and dress and everything left handed! Keep you all posted!

Everything looks good nad we go back next Friday just to see how it looks and he will let us know then how much longer we have to keep it wrapped. He also told Robby that by then the pain would be much better! Boy was he glad to hear that! Thanks for all your thought and prayers.

Just wanted to update everybody on Robby's arm! I took him back to the doctor yesterday and he was amazed at how great it looked. They didn't even clean it! Said I had done a fabulous job and that from now on he was sending all his burn patients to me for cleaning! I told him no thanks!
We don't have to do the twice daily dressing changes anymore. And he can leave it open to the air. Just has one tiny spot on his elbow that is still open but in a day or two that will be closed up.
I want to thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. Our God is an AWESOME God! He hears our prayers and works miracles every day!

Yah Sherry!!! that is fantastic news. I'm so glad to hear Robby is doing so well. Great going nurse Sherry!! LOL. And now don't forget the Aloe. Since he can have his arm open to the air now, it's a good time to use it a few times a day. Pure Aloe you can buy in the store in a jar, if you dont have an Aloe plant.
