I have just loved the historical parts about the Japanese in California. Wasn't it fun to read those stories of what happened to the Japanese American's that Benni interviewed? That was my favorite part of this book.

I agree Jess the historical significance of that part of the story really added to the weight of the novel. I think the details of what those poor people went thru really hits Benni hard and it gives her a new perspective on the lives of the people she is dealing with in this book.
