Attention, Snug Society Quilters!

This Friday, January 24th, marks the beginning of our new 4th Friday Snug Society Sew-In!  We’ll gather at a “cyber-quilting-bee” here at the Forum and on Facebook to create blocks, piece tops, sandwich and quilt to create quilts to pass forward to those who need them.  We’ve complete many quilts in the past to help our friends at
(1Harmony Home, a counseling center for abused children in Texas;
(2Pine Ridge Native American Reservation in South Dakota; and
(3)  for veterans in our forum members’ families and/or Quilts of Valor.

Dorian moderates our children’s quilt projects for Harmony Home.  Let Dorian know that you want to help create this quilt to comfort a Harmony Home child!

Sharon moderates our Pine Ridge projects and is currently working to complete this quilt to send to our friends on the reservation.  Let Sharon know how you want to help provide warmth during the harsh South Dakota winters!

Denise moderates our veterans’ quilt projects – both for veterans in our forum members’ families as well as for the Quilts of Valor initiative.  Let Denise know that you want to help with these projects!

Let’s get together and do what we do best – share the comfort of a quilt with those who need this comforting most!  See y’all Friday!

i'll be sewing with some 9-Patches to create a quilt or 2 for the Methodist Children's Homes of Mississippi.  my friend, Rev. Mark McNair, just became their new Chaplain!  His wife, Nancy, is one of my YaYa's and called to make a special request   - can't wait to help put some quilts on the beds of some of these children & teens

dorian, i am going to try to be in both places at least for a bit, i won't be taking "roll" to see who's charity sewing at 6 PM on the dot    i had to pick a time for this that was good for me and didn't want to take up weekend time - i figured everyone's weekend time was as precious to them as it is to moi  and it's just one Friday evening a month

I'm not sure if I will feel .ike sewing tomorrow night or not....I'm still working overtime, 58 hours last week and this week too!!
I can at least get the sashing on one side of the star blocks until I gat the rest. I'm going to try to make the last 3 blocks, but haven't had a chance to dig for my blues.....maybe tomorrow night!

My brain is turning to mush lately and I'm getting tired of "stimulating the economy" with all this overtime!! I want some sewing time!!!

I'll see what I can do,

trish, just join in when you can, the kick-off is about 6-ish my time (Central), but there are no "rules" on beginning/ending times - i'll be sewing on those 9-patches most of the evening myself.  Shoot, I may even be a wee bit late to my own party as Ms. Wren informed me we needed more cat chow so I got to make a Kroger run when I get off work at 5

Looking forward to stitching tonight......we have battened the hatches down......lol

we have horrendous high winds blowing......window pane rattling. Poor Ms. Miai is a walking scartie-kitty - fur on end & jumps when walking. we are expecting the snow anytime 5-10"......a good night to sew.

I have figure the border to do for our Bingo quilt - from the 15+ blocks that measure 9" instead of 10 1/2".....it's going to be quite striking.
The other ladies are doing up the 30 blocks for the center......
Hoping to get it all together on Mon. then to a longarmer....bound and ready to present Feb 3rd - a new quilt for the lady who lost everything in a fire at Christmas........

looking forward to hearing all the great sewing project all are doing.

hugs and stitches

I've got a beautiful hand pieced top on the frame and have only a few more rows of quilting to finish.  I'm using a quilting pantograph of "daisies" and it's turning out quite nicely.  Am wishing I had more training on this thing so I could've made this a spectacular quilt, but for now, getting it finished and to Pine Ridge is the goal.

here are my 9-Patches so far!  there's another row of them, but no room on my design wall   I'm thinking about a silver gray sashing with maybe a darker gray for cornerstones and borders of course . . . this one will be for one of the teen boys at MCH . . . fixin' to see about some girlie-girl 9's

Beautiful work Sandy!

Cindy, the gray sashing/cornerstones will look great with those 9patches!

I got some pieces cut out for my 2 harmony home blocks. But I have a housefull of sick kids  and wasn't able to do anymore. But will work on them over the next few days, as time allows.

Cindy, those 9 patches are just fantastic.  I can picture them with the silver/gray sashing and borders.

Thanks Sharon and Dorian.  Oh, so sorry you have sick kids.  Hope they feel better soon!  This top is one Jess sent to be quilted and will be sent off to Pine Ridge next week when the binding and label are on.  I felt bad that special quilting wasn't done on the insides of the blocks and sashing, but I'll need more training before that could happen.  Somebody really did a lot of work to hand stitch all those blocks!  It's 82 X 69 inches.  There are some stains on it, so I'll wash it and see if my aunt Jeaniene's special stain remover recipe will work on this one too.  It helped with the first one's stains.

Cindy.. your four patched 9 patches look great!

Sandy... I can't see a picture... but it sounds lovely!

There was no stitching here last night.. we met with friends for an early birthday celebration..... the pub up the street has prime rib on Friday nights, there were 10 of us for dinner.  By the time we got home at 9 pm... I decided that the wine and my rotary cutter were probably not a good combination.... LOL  I'm planning on pulling orange and greens, and some of my browns for the two new blocks to make.... The brown backing is ready to send to Sharon with my blocks.

The night of our sew-in, my friend, BettyAnn from Thunder Bay told me she would donate a quilt for Pine Ridge. I received it in the mail and took pics today. I posted it in the photo album, but here are a couple of other pics. Of course, my Johnny Cash had to get in the pics, lol. He loves quilts. This makes our 5th quilt this year for Pine Ridge.

Two more will be ready from here once the labels are on.  Do we have a 2014 label yet?  Guess I could use a 2013 label for these tops Jess sent, since they were given to her last year.

Thank you, Laura & Denise, for the emails!

Snug Society Quilters - I have posted the 2014 Labels here.  2013 labels are still up - but I removed the 2012 ones.  if you still need a 2012 label, just let know cause I can hook you up

Labels for QOV quilts can be found here.  These QOV labels are NOT dated and do not need to be updated.  There is a space to fill in a "complete date".  Also, labels for QOV quilts going to the United Kingdom and to Canada are posted.

If you want one of the "reversed" labels to print on the special paper that Denise has, just PM Denise or myself
