Jess-

While I am busy demonstrating just how techinally ignorant I am, can you explain this to me, please? I haven't completed my profile. What goes in the boxes marked "interests" and "signiture"? Do these show in my posts? Or when people view my profile? Sorry to be such a pest, but you have to be prepared for the technically challenged when you host a forum! LOL Oh, one other question. I notice there are some "invisible" members lurking about. How does one make oneself invisilbe?

Invisible members are just like the guest members on BC, we will not know who they are until they register, if they decide to.

In your profile - The signature box is where you put the signature that will appear at the bottom of every post you make (mine says Don't be a Stranger, Jess).

Your interests is just something that will appear on your profile when people click on your name. Does this clear it up?

I'm glad Meg ask that question because I had not idea what it meant either. Sometimes things just move way to fast for me.

Happy Holidays...

Just to make a liar out of me- now it is working! LOL Go figure! So can I ask one more dumb question and then I promise not to pester anyone for the rest of the day?  Is there any way to permamently set the rich text editor so I can just compose a reply without having to set everything each time? I know it is a dumb question- consider the source! LOL

Unfortunately, I have not found a way to make the colors and fonts default to our preferences, so no Meg, I don't think we can do that. :o I REALLY wish we could too, although it has become habitual for me to just change my things now. If I figure out a way to do it, I will post right away with it!

How do you use the rich text editor?  You have to edit your post each time?  Is that how?

yep doreen, you have to select your font style, size & color each time you post.  jess said she will let us know if she ever figures out if we can "save" our preferences.

Hi Doreen,

You don't have to "edit" the post after you post it to use the rich text editor, but you do have to hit the reply button on a post rather than using the quick reply box at the bottom of the screen. In the reply box that comes up when you hit the reply button, you can change your font style, size, etc.

You can go into your profile and have the rich text editor always on when you hit the reply button, but you cannot set a different default font setting. Clear as mud?

<p>So you write something then submit it and then what?<br /><br />I submitted and then didn't see anything about fonts, rich text or anything else to change things in anyway.  I scrolled down and clicked on rich text edit finally<font face="georgia, palatino">.  Then I changed to some font that I'm not familiar with and don't know what it will look like.   I can't find the colors though.</font></p><p><font face="Georgia">Ferrellee</font></p><p><font face="Georgia" /></p><p> </p>

This is what I got?

ferrellee, if you are typing your reply in the "reply" box below this message, then you will not get the font, size and color options.  you have to click on the reply box in the upper right corner of the message - it has a little yellow pencil beside the word "reply".  you also have to make sure you have your profile set up to use the rich text option - there is a box to check to allow that in your profile.  hope this helps!

I haven't asked a dumb question for at least 24 hours, so, just to keep in practice.....  I noticed the other day that signatures were showing up inthe same color and font as we were using to type the message. Now they are back to normal. What happened? Is there anyway to set them that way permamently?

Hi Meg-

As far as I know, that is a kind-of glitch in the system. Sometimes when I post a message and then edit it, I hit "control a" to select all, then set my font color, etc. It sometimes grabs up my sig. as well. Not sure why it does it sometimes and not others, so I am afraid I don't have a good answer for you!

Let me state this about this forum: It is a free program written by some very considerate individuals who (I think) just wanted to help out people by creating a program that is free. Similar programs are very expensive. They do update the program and send out new versions from time to time, as they are able. There are several things I can still do with the program, and they are on my ever growing to do list. Please continue to ask questions about the functions and we will search through the features together!!

Meg, I'm guessing "control a" means holding down the control button and then pushing the A key at the same time.. I just tried it and that's what it means! it highlights everything you just wrote.

Yes Dorian, you are correct. Control 'a' means hold down the control button, then hit the 'a' button. This will select everything in the area you are working. Clear as mud?

Dorian - I have no idea why your rich text editor is doing that! Let me mess with it a bit, and see what I can do!

Okay, I fixed you up Dorian!

When you hit reply, do you see the three check boxes below the box where you type in your text? They are 'include signature', 'disable html', and 'enable emoticons'. Your 'disable html' box was checked. I changed one setting in your profile, and it fixed it so that this box is not automatically checked. If I can be brief (hehe): When you disable your html, you see the coding instead of the actual colors and fonts you chose. Now this is, I am sure, only as clear as mud!!! Grin.

If you look up a few posts I fixed one of your earlier posts that you tried to make green. Please let me know if you have any questions still. You should be able to play with your fonts now though! Happy posting!
