I made this cover for my Kindle last night after work. It only took about an hour and a half, start to finish. I may ask the designer for permission to make some for our quilt show boutique.

Adorable Ms. Dorian! Are you doing your hand quilting again or is that by machine?

And Dorian, you'll wonder how you ever machine quilted without the walking foot - so glad you're getting one.

Love the kindle cover Donna! I've been making some of those too. I'll post a pic later. I made one for Roy out of Beatles fabric, and one for myself out of my special, made for me fabric that was a birthday gift from David and Katherine.

Lovely quilt Dorian. I agree with everyone else...you are going to LOVE having a walking foot.

Here are the quilts I finished for Christmas. The first was made for my niece, and the second was for my brother-in-law. The one for my BIL is made from lots of "farm-y" fabrics since he and my sister have a small farm.

i finally got a chance to look at all the pretty stuff you ladies have been working on.

dorie, such a cute quilt, its amazing how the quilting adds and transforms a top.

donna, love the batik on your kindle cover, very lovely!

lizzie beautiful quilts! i could stare at shadow play for hours. i think i would like to make one like that, i like the way it looks so dimensional.

how do you all decide what quilting motif to use on your tops?

nice work everyone, i love seeing the stuff you create, it inspires me to keep working on my skills!

Blessings,

kidsrn

Oooooo Wendy! Very, very pretty! Could I have it? Please? (I'm batting my eyes, if you can't tell.)

Hahahaha Sally. Y-seams? Not for this girl. That quilt is triangles, but I'm really pleased with it.

Trish, I'm still trying to figure out how to choose the best was to quilt the quilt tops. I'm heading to a longarm class on Saturday and plan on asking that question.

Oops. Forgot. Here's another finish. Here's a new cover I made for my Nook. I made one a while ago, but this one is special. I don't remember if I told you, but David and Katherine surprised me on my birthday last month with a VERY special gift. They asked me earlier in the Fall if I would let them take a couple of photos of my tattoos, no questions asked. (I have 2 tattoos on my arms that have a great deal of meaning to me.) Anyhow, I said "sure" and really didn't know what was up. Well, Katherine had found a website that would print fabrics of your own design. My David is an artist (his degree is in Art and Design) so he designed 3 different fabrics, based on my tattoos. Then, they sent the designs off and had my very own fabric made for me for my birthday! So, without further ado....here's my new Nook cover, that really is all about me!

Lizzie.

My diaper bag is finished! The zip pouch is my 'purse', just right for the small amount of things I carry in a purse. And there is pockets lining both sides of the big bag (the orange is pockets).

very nice, dorian!    the bag stands up nice & tall!  would it be easy to add a flap if one wanted a flap? rather than the main part of the bag sitting wide open, that is?  just curious . . .

and are we HOPING for a girl with all that pink???  we are certainly hoping for a girl for billye lynne!!!!

What a beautiful bag, Dorian!! Great job! and a smart idea to have a zipped purse section. Pretty fabrics, too. It doesn't really look like a diaper bag, and looks to be useful long after it's needed for that purpose. I LIKE!!!

beautiful bag dorie, and i am wondering the same thing...... its very much GIRL colors, but then, you are the mum carrying it so girl colors fit hehehe.

i am hoping for a girl so i can make some cute cute smocked girly dresses :) ok, i could make some smocked boy things too. but some men do not want their boys to wear anything smocked even if its a boy design.

wendy, love the patterns and oclors of your quilt too, its very fun and interesting to look at with the different blocks. something for me to aspire too sigh................

the kindle covers are really cool with custome fabric. did you make up the pattern or is it an available one? i have been thinking about making one for myself.

so many busy gals around here, i dont even have one finish yet!

Dorian-
Great bag-- fun, bright fabrics!!
Looks similar to a bag I made a few years back for a Christmas exchange-- mine had to scoop pocket in the front, but not the neat zippered pocket along with it. And it looks like you added accent pieces on the side too-- very clever!
I don't know who you can come up with all your designs, but more power to you girl!!

Thank you Ladies!

LOL Cindy, No, I am not hoping for a girl. Either sex is fine with me  But when I got this fabric in the mail, I KNEW I had to make a bag with it. And since I need a diaper bag most...lol.

Um, yes, I think a flap could go on very easily Cindy.

I was also thinking of just doing a button with a latch on one side also.

Sis, you can always make your baby things in neutral gender colors

This is a Civil War fabric doll quilt (15 1/2" x 20") for a swap on SmallQuiltTalk yahoo group (run by Kathleen Tracy, author) - I received mine from my swap partner in December, but I was late - I hand quilted the whole thing - and did I pick a simple grid?? no way!! not this gal!
I free handed an approximate 1/4" away from most of the seams and did kind of loopy things in the two large "plain" squares and the setting triangles on the ends. It's been labelled, washed, and partially machine dried, and almost ready to mail!!! I have all the parts to make myself an identical one - good thing, because hubby likes this one much better than what she sent me lol

Okay here is a quick pic of some thing I finished last week during my sew along.

This is my redwork/30's combo piece.  She is all done.  Then the Sleeping Cat top before sashing and the 3 B's.

The 3rd one is a personal challenge between me & Gerda. I need to draw out the oak leaves & acorns for the golden yellow sashing and the cornerstones and this will be another hand project to finish.

I have most of my vest done but one arm hole.... needs more binding to finish to take off the UFO list.

Tricia

ok the salon did get heat and warm water. I was there untill 1:00 Had whole head colored, foiled and cut. Finally got a bob haircut, other times she said that I didn't want to look like everybody, that I was an individual. how does she know what I think lol Had the coloring etc done in two steps. So while the main coloring was processing on my head, I was looking at the hair style magazines, found 3 or 4 pictures of hair styles that I liked and showed them to her. She said that we would talk about it after my hair was foiled and washed. oh by the way the person that does my hair is the owner. After my hair was washed in cold water, then foiled and sent under the nice warm heat lamps to process I left the picture that I really liked out where she could see it. Then my hair was washed in sort of warm water, then we had the talk. I ened up with the bob hair cut and it looks very nice on me if I say so myself! lol

going home was slippery anyway was finally able to cut material into squares and rectangles for the back of quilt I am working on tomorrow will cut more 8.5 by 12.5 inch rectangles and 4.5 inch squares

This is the first project from my Quilt U. class. It's a collage of a flower called Indian blanket (I think I posted a pic of the actual flower earlier). My main project will be a pale pink orchid. So far we've done a line drawing of the photo. We've done a value study of the photo and have used that to turn the line drawing into a value map for the quilt.

I've started a new BOM with El (called "Quilts From El's Kitchen") that is either 6" or 12 " finished blocks with a medallion center made of Cherry Basket plus appliques. I will be doing both (of course) and will be doing 6" versions in El's Victory GArden line (40s) and the 12" blocks in 30s from my stash. I also made a wee quilt from each of the blocks this month--well, a top at least! The small quilt of 20 @ 6" hourglass blocks is from a charm pack!

Not sure you can tell, all of the fabric in Mommy's Aprons are candy prints (candy canes, assorted hard candies, gum drops etc. from Candy Land, peppermints, jelly beans, candy corn and assorted Halloween candy, oh yes, a few 'waist bands' of Lucy's chocolates--think that's all........still need to send some to Debbieann!

now I'm making 6 more apron blocks from Fruits & veggies (plus bread, tortilla chips and french fries) for either a reversible quilt or another one--can't decide. these are so much fun to make!
