H-E-A-R-T

To show you like your special friends,
Just give them each a heart.
H-E-A-R-T, H-E-A-R-T, H-E-A-R-T,
Each heart says I like you!

Since we all have such fun with the Secret Santa swaps, I thought it would be fun to play Secret Valentine!  Who would like to play with me?

This is a NO SEW swap!!!  And as such, the deadlines will come fairly quickly so please make sure you can fulfill your commitment before signing up.  Thank you!!!  Each Secret Valentine will send 2 fat quarters in their Giftee’s favorite color along with a notion (pattern, thread, rulers, etc.).  That’s it . . . no sewing involved!

My Secret Valentine 2011 Guidelines:

  • I will draw names for all of the participants, and you will know who you drew, but not who drew you.
  • As you sign up for this swap, please post on this thread what your favorite color is for the fat quarters and a couple of suggestions (if any) for your notions “wish-list”.   I will note these on this first post besides their name so the Secret Valentines can find this information easily.
Dates:
  • Sign-up deadline is Thursday, January 20, 2011.
  • Partners Chosen and Notified by Friday, January 21, 2011.
  • Mail by Monday, January 31, 2011, if your partner is halfway 'round the world
    • Or

I want to join since we don't have to do any sewing!

My favorite color is Blue!

And I could really use some hand quilting thread or there is something I have been wondering about and not real sure what it's called. You mark a quilt with a stencil and it uses chalk but it's not the roll pen. It's a pounce something or other. Don't know where can I get one and what is it called, so I could use one of those too!

Looking forward to this one!

SIGN ME UP!!! My favorite color is RED, RED, RED!! ' Any notion will be welcome.

Cindy, you have my info.

Sherry, it's called a Pounce Pad. They are really neat. I made my own using muslin and sidewalk chalk. I used the "fine" grater and grated the chalk then used a funnel to pour it into the muslin bag. I basted the opening so that I could re-open it when I need to fill it again. (It's what I call my "poor mans pounce"!!!!!)

Can I play please?  I'll give ya'all a hundred guesses what color is my fav - first 99 don't count...     I can use about any notion I suppose - can always use bobbins, but they have to be for a Janome machine (they're not expensive - clear plastic).

So make mine PINK and bobbins or any gadget.

Hi Cindy,

Please sign me up for this one! A no sew swap is perfect for just after Christmas

My favourite colour is blue, but is quickly followed by red if that makes it easier. As for notions, I always need pins and hand sewing needles, so either would be perfect.

Thank you for organizing this and Thank you Gerda for assisting

Sue x

(I think you have my details, am I right?)

Hi Cindy and Gerda

Please count me in on this swap - my favourite colours are autumnal, so reds, golds, greens, leaves etc.  As for notions, I would be delighted to receive any notion, gadget or pattern.

Thank you both!

Oh Cindy and Gerda,

Can I play? It's no sew and I can go to the post office.

I love reds and any/all notions. Tape measure or pattern works.

Am I missing any information you need?

My favorite color is (hard to guess, yes?)  BLUE.  And as far as notions go, any pattern, notion, or gadget would be fine with me.

Okay ....I think I can handle this one. Sign me up to play....I need some fun and excitement in my life.

Lets see..........colour I'm going to say Turquoise - new for me and I have none and want to put it with coco brown - HOWEVER if stuck there is a simple solution kitties. Those come in any colour.lol.

As for gadgets/notions - fancy pins, just love pincushions - collect them and can always use them. Patterns are nice too. As you can tell anything seems to go.

Can't wait for this it will be sew much fun.

OH CINDY & GERDA just had a thought(might be trouble) lol BUT we could do this again @ Easter - you know a basket of treats like we arew doing now.
Food for thought.

Hugs and stitches

Debbieann, I have you signed up on my list! Did being Jacqui's SS get you started on turquoise??

I PM''d you about your idea - that is a good idea, let's let it percolate and finish this one first, though. Also a pincushion swap would be fun!! We've done a few over on BC, and I love finding patterns and getting neat ones in the mail. And of course, Cindy has to vet it first.

I know I'm probably opening a can or worms here, but , is there going to be an ugley fat quarter challenge this year??

I have one fat quarter somewhere here that could be in the dictionary next to the word "UGLY", but I saw a few of them on Sunday when I was helping out with inventory at my LQS. Didn't want to buy them if there wasn't a challenge, 'cuz I know that I would never have any use for them!!

Well, I know one thing for sure - this mess I call a sewing room HAS GOT TO BE CLEANED UP/OUT!!! I'm starting to have trouble finding things!!! LOL Oh, boy, I 'm not looking forward to it, but it has to be done one of these days.

Thanks, Debbieann and Jean, for sending me your addys - I am sure I have them somewhere, but I must have taken the sheets off the bulletin board - and who knows where in here they ended up???

I am making a Word doc now with all the ones I find - better late than never.

And just so you all know I haven't fallen off the ends of the earth, my home computer is at the "spa" getting all cleaned up! So I only check in during the week while I'm at work and usually just one time. So if ya need me send me a pm and I'll get it!

But with that said, Nikki asked me to let you know that she wants to play too! Her favorite color is Pink and she could really use some 45mm rotary blades (it's a Fiskars) and she LOVES Gutterman thread. She mainly uses a light grey.

Off to send Gerda her info! Really looking forward to this swap!

May I please play too?  Just now found this thread.  Haven't been around much the last couple weeks - more problems with my brother, quite a lot of snow that makes doing the outside work take 3 times as long, my old Chocolate Lab passed away last week and to be honest, I haven't cried that much in ages - miss that old man so bad!  Guess I've sort of been taking a vacation from quilting for a few days.

That being said, I really would like to join in the fun here.  Favorite color - brown, turqouise, or a combination of both.  Notions:  new marking pen, or a pattern - just about any notion as I like gadgets.

Gerda, I think you have my addy, but will send you a PM anyway.

{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}} Nola. Sorry about the continued challenges with you rbrother. I understand the tears for your old pal, been there. It just tugs those heartstrings and the tears just flow. Funny how they are interconnected.

Glad you found the thread and are going to play. It will help mend the heart.

Thanks, Debbieann!  I appreciate your kind words.  Charlie (the lab) was a really special dog - only had him about a year and a half.  He just showed up in our village one day - probably dumped - he wasn't young anymore and he was housebroken, did tricks, etc.  He had some health problems, mainly hip dysplasia, but the last few weeks he'd become lethargic, and the last couple days he lived he exhibited the classic signs of congestive heart failure.  Probably could have prolonged his life with medicine, but the joint problems were getting worse, so I had to consider the quality of life too.  Last Sat. evening he stumbled over to my daughter and just fell over and died with his head on her leg.  My neighbor is going to come over today and dig his grave.  The ground has been frozen too hard to dig, so he's wrapped in a blanket in an outbuilding that's cold where nothing can get to him.  But I'll be glad to get him buried so I can have some closure.  My grandgirls wrote him love letters that I'm to put in a plastic bag and bury with him.  R.I.P. Charlie (a.k.a. Charles Bronson Browndog - my soon to be new son-in-law's name for him!)

Looking forward to getting back into sewing and quilting - maybe it will help this winter depression - something I've never had before this year.

Awww, Nola, what sad news! both about your brother, but 'specially Charlie. It really does hurt when they pass.

The winter depression could just be a result of all the stress you're under, but taking extra Vitamin D should help some too. They say we don't get near enough, and that the amounts recommended are way too little.

BTW I have you down for the swap :)

OH I'm so sorry for your loss, Nola. Here's a big (((((((Nola))))))) for you. It's so hard to lose our pets. I've lost more than I want to think about, get teary eyed thinking of them. Just know he's romping and playing with others now, no more pain, and lots of treats to eat..

Getting back to sewing will help, just remember the good times. Glad you're in the swap..Keep warm.

Oh Nola, I am so sorry to hear about your heart breaking loss. I'm sending you a great big cyber hug. I know how our pets become so dear to us. You are in my prayers.

I would love to be in the Valentine swap. February is my favorite month, perhaps because it is the month of my birth. ha ha.
My favorite color is PINK. Any notion would be fine, but I could use a retractable tape measure for my purse.

Thanks, Cherie!  I'm still missing Charlie and probably always will.  He was such a special guy, even tho' we only had him about a year and a half.  He was rather old when he came to us and I knew we wouldn't get to keep him too long, but I had hoped for a bit more than what we had.  But I thanked God several times for allowing us to know Charlie and to take care of him in his last few months.  He was such a big gentle guy!  My daughter has a Black Lab that I take care of - she's getting old too - close to 11, but still quite active.  I love all dogs, but labs are special favorites - them and my Beagles!

Hugs,
Nola

Hello Nola,
I've only just read about your beloved Charlie and I am very sorry for your loss. I feel for you and wish I could help take the ache away, but I know from experience that only time can do that. I too lost a black lab this year, she was almost sixteen. She was a very quiet, patient old girl and I miss her dreadfully, but remember the quote, "Don't remember and be sad, remember me and be glad" (for all the good, happy times)..

Hi everyone, and happy Valentine shopping. During my shopping I may find something for my DH for our Valentine Anniversary! I have a thought: When we send our gifts, I think it would be nice to include a little note about ourselves. It's always fun to learn more about others.

Also a question: Do we open our secret gift as soon as we get it or is there an "opening date"?

Thanks, carol/justme

Thanks Gerda, got the email just fine. My day is going good - my quilting pal picked me up and voila............ Visited 2 LQS and lunch @ Swiss Chalet. What a treat as I don't get to do that much.Driving that distance(which isn't really far - 30 min) BUT at present with IV and meds, not the safest thing to do.

So I got to relax and shop. I got fabulous FQ's for my Secret Valentine and a????, also a ?????. Gues you wil have to wait and see what else. lol

You're welcome, ladies!! :)
Ooh, Debbieann, what did you have?? Bill and I had lunch at Swiss Chalet on Monday, and I had the white meat quarter chicken dinner with SALAD!!! I don't know what came over me, I ALWAYS have the baked potato!!! But oh, it was sooooo good. I don't get there very often either, we rarely eat out - it's usually healthier and definitely cheaper to eat at home, but it's a real treat the odd time, isn't it??

Supposed to be a tad warmer tomorrow, so if the roads are in decent shape I'll be buzzing over to Bluffton to the LQS to shop for my valentine.  Been needing to go anyway as I need to find a couple pieces of fabric for a swap on another site - two that have been REALLY hard for me to find.  The Bluffton store has such interesting notions and gorgeous fabric so I'm hoping I can find something really nice for ????? (I wonder who!)  LOL

We have 3 nice LQSs in my area, as well as a couple Amish dry good stores, but the Bluffton store is my fav.  I LOVE their fabrics, the ladies always act so happy to see their customers - very friendly and helpful!  The Berne store has beautiful fabrics too but they lack quite a bit in friendliness.  Maybe the main clerk just isn't all that out-going, but she seldom offers to help and tends to ignore her customers.  The other shop at Petterson is the one where I occasionally work.  She's always friendly too, but doesn't have quite the selection of fabric the Bluffton store has.

If any of you ladies ever get down/up/over to my part of the country, let me know and we'll go shop-hopping!  I've heard there's a new store at a little town called Roanoke too that I've been wanting to check out - have to wait for warmer weather tho'!

Warm quilty hugs to all this cold but sunny Sunday!

I hit the LQS yesterday to pick up the FQs for my Valentine!  Got a couple notions too but this store doesn't carry a wide range of cute stuff - so if I get the brakes fixed on my van early next week, I'll hit the Berne or Bluffton stores.  I do love the FQs I got tho' and hope my Valentine likes them too!

On the way home my van started making awful noises - either the rear brakes or a wheel cylinder or something - so it stays parked until Monday when I take it to the shop, and hopefully sometime Tuesday it will be fixed.  Don't want to drive it and risk making the problem worse.  So - no wheels means no running of errands, which translates into MORE SEWING TIME FOR ME

I had hoped to get my valentine pkg. mailed today, but I have no wheels (brake problem on the van), and with this nasty mess of weather we're supposed to be getting, mine probably won't go out until late in the week.  Weather reports are saying that we'll get a lot of snow, but will also get the freezing rains - I rather have more snow and NO freezing rain!  Thank goodness we have a wood stove and a fire place in case the power goes out!

My Secret Valentine pkg went out today. Wonder where it's going?? It isn't going out of the country, but is going where there IS SNOW..hee hee hee. Could be north, east or maybe the North Pole - nawww, not that far north.. Hope you like all the goodies. Can't wait to see who is my Valentine..

Gals, WE are actually supposed to be getting S N O W tonite & tomorrow, could be 12"... I know some of ya'all have just had it with the white stuff, and I'm sorry you're having to deal with soooo much this winter. They're already putting up closed places for tomorrow.. The problem here is we always get rain/freezing rain/sleet before we get snow, and people here do not know how to drive in it..

The stores are being inundated with people buying shovels, gloves, ice melt - HELLLOO, 'ya didn't keep them from years previous??? Ice melt I can understand using all that, but the shovels and such?? OH well, good for the merchants..

 Have a good one

Jean

I know exactly what you mean, Jean!  My son works for Rural King store in Decatur and he said they were extremely busy today with people buying everything from snow blowers to shovels to ice melt, etc.  Our snow is supposed to start by about 7 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. Wednesday - they're saying it might be as much as 20 inches, and there is a very strong east wind, so we're gonna have drifts - BIG drifts!  Guess where I'll be - sewing!!!

Well, ya know I hate to brag, but I got my Valentine!!!

Thank you Betty, the FQ's are wonderful and I love angels and really needed the glue pen. I keep forgetting to buy one for myself! Now, I'm gonna go take a picture to share my goodies and then sit down and plan how to use my FQ.

Thank you Cindy and Gerda for such a great swap.

Annette, gosh that was fast! I sent an Express package out to a friend for her Birthday and she hasn't received it yet, of course she is loaded with snow could be the reason. I'm so happy you like the FQ, I make the angels on my embroidery machine...the notion is a new one at least to me so I'm hoping it works well as I bought me one today! lol

Hugs,
Betty

Susie, so glad you like it! And boy did it get there quick! I mailed it on Monday with all of my layer cakes.

I remember a time when I was mailing layer cakes to Ms. Pat and it would take a week or more to get there! And there was NO SNOW then!

What's the deal, it gets there faster when we are loaded down with snow? That makes no sense!

But happy it made it there so quickly!

Now I'm all caught up for the moment! Gonna see if I can do some me things this week-end!

Have a warm day yall!

Betty, I assumed you bought the angel! It is truely the best I've ever seen It is beautiful! I had no idea this type of work could be done on an embroidery machine.

I will give it a good home, thank you again.

Annette you need to visit the Machine Embroidery Site that I am Webmaster! We do all sorts of beautiful embroidery designs, we have 6 groups of embroidery enthusiastes right now doing a project each month, I'm using them to make quilt blocks... I do a center of 7" square and do the embroidery mostly Colorworks(like RW but different colors); and one is even a Crazy Quilt design..when I finish this months I will have enough to make a tablerunner which is what I decided to do. We are having a contest by giving each group a design we choose and if they make a project, post a photo we judge at the end of each month for 3 winners. At any rate, it's fun! Time consuming but fun as I happen to Moderate all six Yahoo Groups and webmaster to one, and assist with 4 others! So come visit.

So glad you received your Valentine gifts. Yes I did make the card - glad you liked it. I enjoy machine embroidering about as much as making quilts. If you haven't used those pins before, you will love them. They are one of my staples - won't dare running out of them.

I don't know WHY I didn't think to take a picture, sorry. Perhaps a friend can do it for you Cherie.

Hugs

Jean

Ladies, I'm glad they are starting to make their ways home.
Shoot,I should have thought about pictures - if possible, would anyone who has not yet mailed their package, take a picture just in case the recipient can't?? That way we can all drool!! Thanks, ladies.

Okay I curious..........what kind of pins did Cherie get? Why do you like them so much Jean? This is so exciting hearing all the neat things every one is getting.

I had hoped my Valentine would have received her little stash. I hope it is soon, I did take a pic of them as they were leaving. lol

I don't kno why I didn't think to take a picture Debbieann, guess it's that ol' Senior-itis again.. The pins are (shoot, just looked and the label on mine is gone) 1 1/2" long, white ball heads.. They come in a little plastic box, are sharp and I love them. I also sent her some flower headed ones. The card was embroidered on cardstock with 'floating hearts'.

I'm looking forward to receiving my Valentine..Oh where oh where are you????

Hugs,
Jean

oh, Ms. Pat! thank you, thank you, thank you! My secret Valentine arrived today! You were far too generous! I got two yummy brown fat quarters, approx. a yard of a darling brown and pink batik that is folded and tied into a bag, two rotary cutter blades, a water soluble marking pin, a tiny pieced key fob, and a pair of 3 1/2" gingher embroidery size scissors..... I feel so spoiled!

I took a pic, but it hasn't uploaded to my photobucket yet... so hopefully I can post a pic tomorrow.

I had to reupload my pics from the quilt show I went to last Sat. too.

{{{{{{{Denise}}}}}}} ... I am so happy you like your valentine. I was so happy when Gerda sent me your name.  You are such a big-hearted woman that I enjoyed being able to put together a little something to let you know how much you are appreciated and admired ... not just for your considerable quilting accomplishments and your generous contributions to this forum, but to say thanks for all you have done for others in your life and work.  You have always been so helpful and supportive to me, it is just my way of saying "thank you for being my friend" ...

... and here are the photos I took before I packed it up with a hug for you ...

Gerda, Like Denise, I didn't make it to the post office yesterday, but I went this morning and my Secret Valentine package is on its way - sent it priority, so it should get there around Friday.

I received a lovely surprise in the post this morning - my fantastic St. Valentine gift from Lizzie !!

Thank you, Thank you and Thank you again Lzzie

Lizzie has sent me three beautiful fabrics, all in my very favourite colour - BLUE...

Lizzie also sent me some flower head pins, I haven't had anything like these before PLUS, a pack of hand quilting needles that come in a very interesting little tube that has a painted shell on the top - I'm still trying to figure out if this is your own handiwork Lizzie?? They all came in a very eye-catching snazzy envelope

Here's a photo -

I'm afraid my photos do not do these wonderful gifts justice, the blues are strong and true, I may well try and take another photo later!

They look lovely Sue. What a bundle of fun you got. Lizzie they look spectacular. Great swapping with you two. Enjoy.

I am really hoping my Valentine pal gets her treasures soon. I sent them on Jan 26 (along with my batik swaps) (not to the same place mind you. lol) I hope she posts she has them soon. 2 weeks - they should be there. It is in the US but the upper right side.lol

Barb, just a quick note to let you know my wonderful Valentine's gift arrived today!  I love it all!!  Will try to post a picture a bit later.  It's chore time now and my neighbor got home from work in time to help me tonight - THANK HEAVENS! - temps are only slightly above zero and I really wasn't looking forward to doing the feeding by myself!  When I get back from the barn, if there's enough charge in the battery to get a picture, I'll post one.

Two absolute gorgeous FQs, a really cool pattern, a cute card, and something I've never seen before, a nifty guide for making Prairie Points!!  Can't wait to try it out as I love prairie points and always have trouble getting them to come out even!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

Hugs,
Nola

I received my secret Valentine package in the mail on the 2nd of February from Debbieann. I was very excited. Being new to the site, I wasn't sure if I was suppose to post it then or wait. I'm still trying to work out the kinks. My treasures consisted of 3 spools of thread, a pattern for a FQ tote bag which will be made with the great "Orange" FQs I received. In my opinion you can never have enough orange fabric or bags. My husband calls me the bag lady because I have many. Please have a great Valentines day everyone.

Whoo Hoo, I got a Secret Valentine package today! Midge, I love the bag ...it is so cute..love the pattern to make another one and I've not seen these and they are great! Having just finished a little bag swap that was a really small bag this one is great! I love the heart fabric also! Just really, really cute! Also 2 beautiful aqua FQ's and the cutest little plastic card with a table runner pattern on it called Twister! There was also a very sweet card!

Last but not least! Chocolate! lol I'm hiding these from my hubby! Not supposed to have candy but hey I'm sneaking these when he goes to bed tonight! lol That cholestrol test 1st of March will just have to go the way it's going. I figure I've been on meds for Cholestrol so maybe I'll get by because I'm sure not loosing weight! lol

At any rate, this was a fun swap! Can't wait for the next one. I'll post photo later

Hugs,
Betty

Betty-
I'm so glad that you got your gift-- and that you liked it!!!
I have been making a lot of those little bags lately--made them for nieces and nephews for Trick-or Treat bags. Easy-peasy!!
and the table topper looked interesting, and of course I had a "notion" that you would like the chocolate!! What quilter doesn't??

Happy Valentine's Day,
Midge W

chocolate?   ... there was chocolate? ...

Betty ... you was right to be all sneaky about that ... as we all just might have snuck in there and snagged it while you wasn't looking ... ... lol ...

maybe my hubby will remember how much I might like a couple of pieces of dark chocolate fudge from the local candymaker ...

hmmmmmmmm ... maybe I'd best go drop him a hint ...

The valentines are sure looking fine ...

and I got mine!!!!!!

Carol ... thank you so much for the lovely gifts!!! The fat quarters are such a rich shade of burnt orange ... I just love em!   ... and you were so thoughtful to send the needle threaders ... with my vision, I sure need them and the last one I had pulled apart awhile back and I had not replaced it ... these look much more durable ...   ... I had never seen one of those Kwik Klip aides for pin basting ... looks very handy and will save a lot of wear and tear on the fingers ... ... such a pretty handmade brocade heart, a mini-pincushion just the right size to use for my hand needle (which I am always misplacing otherwise) ... ... all wrapped up with a lovely card and tied with a pretty red ribbon ... thank you for being my Secret Valentine!

... and here are the piccies for everyone to enjoy ...

Cindy and Gerda ... thank you for running this wonderful swap for all of us!

:) Pat

Sherry, so glad you got your package and you enjoying it! It was fun picking out some things for you.... I found those darling little scissors and just had to get them for you.... I was really trying to finish your scrappy strings to send just one package, but it didn't happen, so those will go out this next week, I hope.

I'm sorry to hear you haven't received your St. Valentine's gift yet, I'm sure it's on it's way. The person I sent my gift to hasn't posted that it has been received yet either. I'm hoping both gifts are just on a slow train and will be with you and her very soon..........

Speak to you soon, here or PM. Take care and keep resting your pesky leg, how is it this morning?

I told you that good things come to those who wait!! That was definitely worth the wait... even if it does have kitties on the FQ!!
Hope that your leg will be fully healed in a short time... and by the way, when you go for your spinal MRI, you might want to remind them where your "spine" is. Don't want a repeat of your last episode.

Take care,

I'm SO glad the pkg. finally got there, DebbieAnn!  And happy that you like everything.  The store I shopped at was really limited in cute notions, but you'd mentioned that you needed a marking pen, and everyone who quilts seems to need pins often!  The pincushion was such fun to make - the idea is that you can stick in in the top of the spool of thread and have it handy when you're doing hand-sewing (like I do in the evenings when the rest of the gang is glued to the TV!)  Worst thing was, I had to buy a whole bag of about 50 golf tees, to get one to use on the pincushion!  I'd have begged one from my golfing neighbor, but he was in Florida when I was making that!  But they weren't expensive, so I guess when I get bored I'll make up lots of little pincushions!

Sorry your pkg. was so late, but at least it got there OK.  And I'm happy that you like the FQs!  I loved the blue piece and the kitties were so cute - just begging me to buy them!

Hey, Nola, those golf tees make great noses for snowmen!! That's if you make stuffed snowmen for decoration. Just a thought. Mind you, if you want to get rid of some, I'll send you some $$ for a few - saves me buying a whole bag! Let me know!

LOL!  DebbieAnn, I'm much more of a "dog person", but I don't dislike cats!  We have quite a few at the barn - a big fluffy long-haired butterscotch 'n white one, several black ones, and a couple calicos.  We used to have two housecats - John had a huge butterscotch 'n white one, and I had a much smaller all white cat - but then John got his Sheltie and she hated cats.  My little Mikki love them - he was never sure if he was a cat or if the cats were dogs - never had a problem with him, but the Sheltie wouldn't tolerate the cats, so the cats lived on the big enclosed front porch.  They were happy out there with 11 windows to look out of, an old sofa to sleep on, etc.  Don't have any cats in the house now because I'm not sure what the beagle and the two crazy mixed-breed dogs would do.  My grandgirls love the barn cats tho'

Gerda, when I send that bag of "corners" and scraps to you I'll toss in a handful of golf tees - no need to pay me for them.  I think that whole big bag was only a couple dollars and I'll NEVER use up all of them.  That's a great idea tho' of using them for snowmen noses!

Not a problem at all, Gerda.  Glad to share!  I just went and looked at the bag of tees - there are 90 in the bag and I don't think I'll EVER make that many pincushions or snowmen!  My daughter got them for me and I think she said the bag was less than $2 so just consider the ones I send you as a "Very Merry Un-Birthday Gift"!  (my best friend and I used to say that every time one of us did something nice for the other!)

Hugs,
Nola

Well, Nola, an un-birthday gift is just as welcome - and who knows? Depending on when you mail the parcel and I get it, it might just BE a BIRTHDAY present!! It's creeping up on me mighty fast!! LOL Not that I'm dreading it, oh, no, just feeling blessed to be getting where I am (I'll be 58).

Cindy, thanks, got it and replied (a couple of times, I think, before we left for swimming lessons - brrrrr, it is COLD here today!!! It was -26C/-14F WITHOUT the wind this morning, bright and sunny, but COLD!!

Nikki - So sorry - I did get your package - thank you very much!! My camera batteries have needed recharging and I keep forgetting to charge them. I'll try to remember to do that tonight so I can take a picture. Those blue FQs are perfect - I'm planning to do my Old Rag Mountain quilt in blues, greens and golds, and the ones you sent will be beautiful in it! Thank you again!

I'm beginning to get really concerned now about the parcel I sent out to my Secret Valentine.

I posted it towards the of January, so it's almost a month I know it has a long way to go, (it's a pretty big ocean between me and all of you!) - the only thing I can think of is that has been pushed to the back of a shelf somewhere.  I posted it in the week before most of the U.S was hit by that massive snow storm that seemed to cover the whole country, so that may have something to do with the delay

My Christmas swap parcel was also very late arriving. I'm seriously thinking it may be for the best if I don't join in any more swaps, I already have enough grey hair !

I will PM you later Cindy/Gerda and figure out what is the best thing to do about this one. I hate to let down my Secret Valentine, she is a very nice lady who deserves this treat

Cheerio for now,

Yours in frustration

Sue

Sue don't despair yet sweetheart, a lot of my parcels have taken a loooooong time to get there, but most of them have arrived eventually. stressing MOST.

I know that Milica is in the same boat as you as she sent out things which do not seem to have arrived either.

This is one major reason I don't join in RR. I am always afraid other peoples work may get lost. I do still indulge in some of the swaps but the wonderul ladies on here do understand that our postal system leaves a lot to be desired and are willing to wait bless their hearts.

I know you will be fretting over your parcels but hopefully they will show up in the next few days, fingers crossed for you and your SV xx

Dear Jacqui,

Many thanks for your lovely words of encouragement You are right, I am stressing about it, it is SO frustrating, especially as I know that many times post reaches my daughter down in Australia (letters and parcels) in less time than it does to reach friends in America. Maybe it's the route it takes, I have a friend in California and post often reaches her in approx. 5 days!! A friend I have in Russia receives her post from me in about 10 !

I shall keep watching here and hoping it arrives soon.  I was wondering if Milica's had been received yet - it is kid of reassuring that it hasn't turned up yet either, but NOT good for Milica and her SV

Bye for now,

Sue

Oh my don't fret Sue......it will arrive. I got my magazine from you and it took 10days, I think. It can take 14 - 21 days for me to mail to the US and hey we are in the same continent.lol.

I get the RR reasoning that Jacqui mentioned - I feel the same here. But hey stay in the swaps - it's ok.

AND FOR THE RECORD MY PKG FOR THE BATIK SWAP WAS THE LAST ONE TO BE RECEIVED - I even mailed it early jan 26th. Katie mailed hers the same day and we aren't that far apart. Pat got hers almost 2 weeks before mine. Figure that one.lolol

Hang in there you guys, we'd be lost _ at least I would _ if I didn't have my international quilty pals.

Hugs and stitches

We would be lost without you guys too! WE love our international swappers!!!! I know the postage system leaves much to be desired... and customs does't help much either....

Mail moves again today after a federal holiday, so hopefully they will break loose.

Even our US postal system has it's failures..... I mailed Christmas cards and money one year to my Step Daughter and grandkids..... they never got them. I resent..... then in about June, she got a bundle with a letter saying that an entire USPS trailer had been packed , and then parked..... for 6 months! An entire 40 foot trailer full of mail and packages!

Dear Midge,

Phew! I am so glad your  Secret Valentine package has finally arrived and that you like the bits and pieces. I had great fun putting it together, it's a good thing for both of us that you are a patient soul

I didn't take a photo, sorry.

Cindy and Gerda, BIG thanks goes to both of you for putting up with my frustrations  and also to everybody else who posted words of encouragement  I am NOT the patient sort

Cheerio for now,

Sue x

No problem, Sue, we're just glad it finally got here. We have mucho experience with the various postal and customs services - frustrating, though!
Let's hope that whoever (whomever??) hasn't yet gotten theirs, that they get it SOON!!
