We were talking in the chat room tonite(okay last nite) lol about our loveable pets. So Cindy said start a thread . So here it is - we get to meet everyones loveables - with us and those in our hearts forever.

Here is the first. I was talking about Vanilla - I had her 16 1/2 years. Adopted her from the Humane Society @ Valentine's. Somebody had dumped a box of puppies in the marsh around New Years.

She was a wolfhound/terrier mix. She always had a pink nose. Drank doubledouble decaff, loved chocolate all her life. lol

As you can see by the pics it is like she was 2 dogs. Haircut for summer and a fluffy coat for winter. lol She also had what we termed as 'Reindeer ears" .

Debbie, what a cutie! I like her "reindeer ears".

This is Max. He's 12 years old now; weighs about 15 pounds. He may be big, but he's a big 'fraidy cat! A lot of it is an act, though. We call him the Drama Queen. And the next picture is Penny. She is THE QUEEN OF EVERYTHING. Has been ever since we brought her home!

She's about 8 years old now. We got them both from the Humane Society.

oh debbieann!  vanilla was so cute!!  i love the "look" she has in the first pic (btw - i cropped out all that white space from the scanning )  - i bet vanilla was quite a character!  and you're right, the 2 pics do not even look like the same dog!

donna, i love the look on max's face too - that little patch of yellow by his mouth gives him a smug little quirky look!  and penny of course is queen of the house!

here is our Princess, the grand-poodle . . . ya ever hear about grandparents raising the grandchildren???  well, we get to raise the grandpuppy LOL  let me find my pics of dixie and smokey and i'll get them posted later . . .

Cindy thanks for the cropping - how do you do that. I just scanned those in - a new learning experience. Guess I need more practice. lol
I love Princess - yep it is amazing what/who we get to raise.lol

Debbie, Penny hates being held on to, so if you try to hug her you'd probably end up bleeding! She loves petting and being brushed, but no holding. :)

Hello again - I will probably drive a few nutty  but ...... thought I'd share a love story with you. FELINE OF COURSE .LOL

This is pic story of how love can be a "pane" .lol

It is about MAX {my neighbours cat} and Ms. Miai {my little treasure}

They met and it was love at first sight. The tender looks thru the glass, the first dance -you get the drift.

These two developed quite the routine, They would chase each others tails thru the glas, stretch up the window. They would lay for hrs each against their side of the window. My neighbour would call telling me to send Max home.

Sadly Max passed 2 yrs ago, he was 15 yrs old.

Oh, Debbieann, MAX looks like my Toby.  I miss him so much; he passed about 2 years ago, too.  Toby had a job to check the neighborhood and talk to everyone twice a day.  He seriously had rounds to make.

You'll have to post a pic if you can. I understand these round the "boys" do. Max would sometimes meet me at the car and walk me home. Ms. Miai seemed to know the time and the day of the week.lol Then they would sit and snuggle against the window. lol

Cat love - gotta love it.

debbieann, sweet story!!!  and the more i see you miai the more convinced i am that she & dixie are twins

and here is our puppy-puppy-princess.  carter always smiled when i would call princess like that!  she's a good little poodle - she listens to gramma, keeps me safe, and watches over the puter and sewing areas faithfully

What an awesome thread! I have been reading it on my phone, and love the stories and pics that everyone has shared.

Here is a picture of my Little Boy Blue, stubborn as ever. His kennel (where they eat) was out in the yard drying after a scrub down, but he refused to eat anywhere else. He kept jumping onto the shelf where his kennel sits and looking at us like, "I will have my dinner here, thank you."

Me again.............lol
You must think all I have are pet pics. a few

This is one of my mother's toy poodle. Shifty little thing(he has passed many years ago)

His annoying habit was getting into my parents bed and under the blankets and against the pillows. My dad had no real love for this yappy thing. lol . He was a mischief maker and of course as kids we always encouraged it.

He did make for cute pics.

LOL, cute Debbieann!!

When I was pg with Jed, we had a cat named Shadow...she was pg also. When Dad left for work in the morning, Shadow would climb under the covers and place her head on the pillow, right where Dad usually sleeps. So Shadow and I would cuddle for awhile, before I got up to start my day. LOL!

While resting the leg, I have been sorting pictures. lol

Came across this gem

This was Cookie, he was a Maine Coon @ 21 lbs. It was a very hot day and when I came home from work I found him sprawled in the irooning board. I guess the cool teflon pad felt great. This was about 8 yrs ago. He passed @ 13 1/2 yrs old about 6 yrs ago. He was an awesome kitty.

Well it is share time again.......lol  my DN didn't want me to get bored either. So she asked me to make a little doggie coat for her new 'toy'

Meet Miss Maggie........a little ball of fluff and energy. She is about 4mths old.

DN went on holiday mid Oct. and she had the family cat"Kitty" huge blck persian. Well Kitty was 16 and having some difficulties ...short of it she passed on while she was gone.  She had Kitty over half her life, devastated but understood...

However anyone having dear pets will know.....the place is not the same without one.....

Enter Miss Maggie 2 weeks ago.....   She is like an accessory for my DN.

So Aunt Debbie is making a designer collection of jewelled, ribboned, etc doggie apparel. lol

Here she is in the tester.

Awww! I'm glad your niece has a new companion. I remember when my parents lost the kitty I'd known almost all my life. It takes a while, but I'm glad she was ready for a new furbaby.

Here is one of our three dogs. This is Spock, he is my dog (when he was a baby, the black around his eyes made them look like Spock-from-Star Trek's eyes, complete with the pointy 'eye brows') . He is having fun with our first snowfall of the season. He loves chasing anything that rolls, so he's been chasing snowballs!! LOL

Yep here we go again. . . .   I have a quilting assistant today.

While working on Jess's mystery, I stepped out to get a diet coke and this is what I found when returning.

I believe she thinks she has been ignored enough and smarten up. That and with packing the suitcase I think she knows I'm leaving.lol.

The last pic I think she definitely has a furry face attitude.

Cindy does Ms. Dixie do this? lol

Had to share pictures of our babies...Max & Grace.

They don't get "people" food (table scraps, etc.), but they absolutely LOVE oranges. Our Vet said it was okay to let them have fruits (except grapes and raisins) and veggies.

Here they are waiting for their "share" of the orange!

Well, Roger (my DH) seems to think I need a new project/pet. Yesterday afternoon we went and looked at puppies...she picked us out and we brought her home.

She is a Dalsky. Well, okay, she is a mutt but that sounds so much better!   She is a cross between a Dalmation (Momma) and a Husky (Daddy). She has a the short coat of a Dalmation & the markings of a Husky, but everywhere she is white, she is spotted like a Dalmation. She has the most amazing blue eyes courtisy of her Husky Dad.

They had named her Zoe, but that will probably change, although we aren't certain yet.

Here she is...

Absolutely Gorgeous! I love those eyes! And some people might call her a mutt, but I say she is just perfect! Look forward to seeing her grow up!

Just thought I would ask for your prayers for Nikki's cat! And of course Nikki too.

Booger has been having some problems and Nikki finally decided to call the vet. I think he tried nicely to let her know that it is probably going to be Luekemia. Booger has been around for almost 11 years. He is almost a solid black manx that was given to her when she was just 13. When she married he went to live with her and she is VERY worried about him. Please say a little prayer for them both. If anything happens to him I think we will all loose a very special kitty!

Jami - look how well behaved she is already... sitting there for that photo.....

Nikki - prayers for Boogers..... it is so hard to have to make those vet visits... We lost our beloved Clyde, a 22 pound maincoon to kitty leukemia almost 13 years ago..... we still miss him... this cat we've had for 11 years is such a different demeanored cat.

Aw, Sherry - I'm so sorry to hear that! I remember when we lost my kitty I grew up with. He stayed with my parents when I married & moved out, but it was still so hard!

Aw Sherry & Nikki, my thoughts and hugs are with you. It is a trying time when these ugly things surface. We have to hang on to the good memories to help us thru the challenging ones.

Jami- your new project/pet is adorable!! My "baby" is a 10 year old golden retriever, who I keep saying will be the last animal we will have. (My son is now in his 3rd year of college and I think that if we want to go somewhere on a whim, that it will be easier if we don't have to worry about who is taking care of the dog)
But everytime a picture of puppies goes up at work, or an ad about the animal shelter is in the paper I keep thinking how cute these puppies are...
After our first dog passed away and everyone said that we need a new puppy to take his place I held firm. I wanted to see what it would be like to not have an animal to be dependant on before we got another puppy. It lasted 3 years, until a cousin had these puppies. That was it!! Had to have one!! And I don't regret it.
Your new addition looks like she could melt anyone's heart. Enjoy her!!

You would not believe how many pictures I took before I had one that wasn't blurry, or with 1/2 a puppy (usually the back 1/2)!

She is starting to learn potty training...still have a few problems, but on the most part, for her age she is doing really good.

Max & Grace are tolerating her...barely. Max has a few toys that are "his" and he will not share. Well, she tried to take his newspaper the other night and Max first growled...didn't faze her...then snapped/bit her. BUT, as he snapped at her, she lunged at him, so the snap turned into a bite and was worse than it was meant to be. Caught the little stinker just below her eye. Talk about cry! A watery eye for a day and all was better. Needless to say, the newspaper is put up until she is older and understands "no" a little better. It's about killing Max not having that paper! He's had it since he was her size. The only rubber type toy that wasn't completely destroyed in their puppy age.

Oh yeah, we ended up naming her "Maya Blue" or "No-No"   whichever fits at the moment. We are calling her Maya for short.

Jami

I'll have to tell OUR Maya about this - she'll be tickled - she's always looking for her name on TV etc. As you can likely tell, it's not that common a name.

That's a pretty name Jami! And very fitting with the blue in her eyes!

Just wanted to update you on Nikki's cat, Booger. He went to the vet yesterday and he decided to try an antibiotic for 10 days and said that if there wan't any improvement by the end of this round then it would be leukemia. Only way to tell for sure is a blood test and rather than charging them for that he would rather try this first and then he would know for sure. The antibiotics won't hurt anything so why not try it first. But he really thinks it's not just a bacterial infection. So for now we wait to see any improvement and decide what to do later.

As for now Coby has a new love. He is raising a wild pig! Named him Wilbur! (he loves Charlotte's Web) Bottle feeding it and everything! This is his new baby and it will surely take Booger's place in his heart if anything happens so I guess this is a good thing! Right now it stays in a kennel in the house but when it gets bigger it will go outside in a pen. He's absolutely tiny! And colored like a chipmunk! He really is cute! But still he is a wild pig and will grow cutters and probably be aggressive, so it's the pen when he can stand the cold!

Thanks  for all the postive thoughts and prayers ya'll!

Well it looks like it's been a while since any 'fur babies' were posted.. I've been doing computer work this morn and came across these, thot I'd post them.. The Boxer, Zoe` is my sewing pal, always brings me her toys while sewing or embroidering. Tigger, the yeller kitty comes around at times. Tweetie is the evasive one. Life would be sooo dull without them for sure.

Hope you enjoy them.

Why is it that they always have to "try it on for size" the minute you put a quilt any where??
When I lay a quilt top down to measure for backing or batting, my golden thinks that it was meant for her to check out for size!!

Thanks - yeh they're something else for sure. Always have to 'check things out'..lolo Zoe` will bring me toys to throw when I'm out there sewing. If I don't stop and throw one, she'll lay down and let out the biggest sigh, like 'WHY can't you play with me'?? They are precious to say the least. So if anyone gets anything from me and it has a pet hair on it (of course not on food), then you'll know either Zoe`, Tigger or Tweetie approved of it...

Rebecca, yes, we did! When Spock was little, the black around his eyes and some black 'eye brows' were very prominent. And thats who you thought of when you looked at his face. LOL, at least, that's who we thought of.

AAWW love your babies, Rebecca.  Life would be so dull without our fur babies. My 2 kitties always come around when I lay my block out, IF it's too big to put on the design wall...Zoe` always lays on it, as if to say, 'Yep, just my size'..lol The other night I had 2 of my tops folded and laying on a bench in my sewing area...I turn around and Tigger (yeller kitty) plops right up there as if to say, 'FOR ME????' Sooo, found another place to lay them..

It's nice to see everyone's pets...they are such comfort..

Too cut Jean!!

Belle has been in a lot of pain and I just picked her up from the vet. They really thought the x-rays would show an arthritic issue, but the x-rays were clear. They think it's a disc problem... Relaxers, anti-inflammatories, pain meds, bed rest, canned food, and spa treatments (lol) for 10-14 days. Hoping this will help our girl feel better! Great vet, very informative and helpful.

So sorry to hear about Belle, it is hard to lose them.   We lost our Ringo on the 24th of March, he wasn't even three.   He was one heck of a great dog.   "Little Black Dog" We  we called him, because he was well... little in the grand scheme of dogs and black.   Shiner is our other daschund, he is a dapple, there is a picture of him too.  He is now getting used to his new little brother, Elvis.  Elvis is a 12 week old Sheltie.  This thing has legs longer than any other dog I have had, already and HAIR, oh my goodness.

LOL just love the pics Jean.

Donna it is so true block layouts ar ever so challenging with a feline to help. I' waiting for my copy of the layout for the Crazy Goose Chase by Buggy Barn. I have the blocks all trimmed and ready but the forgot to give that sheet to me. Of course this is all in kitty fabrics....every piece..........................so Ms Miai is going to have a blast as I lay them out. Since it is scrappy and some prints used twice................have to make sure it is balanced first.

I am going to call it Crazy Kitty & Wild Goose Chase.

48 blocks plus side setting triangles....lots of movement to tease a little kitty..............lol

Will post pics of the event this weekend. I get the sheet @ my birth day lunch on Fri.

hugs and stitches

Hello again...finally found our favourite thread ------PETS

well Ms. Miai has been dabbling in quilting a bit more that usual......

she did steal a strip in this weekend's mystery. That's right while I ntook a break she removed a strip # 16....didn't notice until i was assembling.....hmmmmm....words or what.

Found it on the couch in the corner with her favourite mouse......I think the message was - you left me alone to much - so if I take you will find ME !!!!!!...lol

This is pics of her helping me trim a project.....got to love the face.....

Debbieann, what a great helper you have! Love the story about the missing strip. George pulls cat toys out of their box and I find them all over the house.

Speaking of George, here he is relaxing in the sewing room. He doesn't look very comfortable!

Donna ... George looks ot be saying, "You do not think you are getting this chair right now, do you?"  ... this the picture that makes the paint colors on our walls really look like they could have come out of the same paint can ...

My quilty kitties yesterday ...

Katniss in the morning saying ... "Time to Sew! Come and play with me!" Katniss loves to help me sew.

Butterfly late at night saying ... "Time to stop! Come and cuddle with me!"  Butterfly likes to sleep on top of my legs at night ... or under the blankets up against me leg when it is real cold ... which it is as we turn the heat way down at night and get under the quilts ...  Butterfly is a very pampered kitty cat.

I should have listened to Butterfly ... it was just after I took this picture that I nicked my finger ... Butterfly followed me into the bathroom to help me clean and bandage and then padded after me to bed ... Katniss followed both of us and curled up in the basket by the bed ...

Pat, what sweet kitties! Sometimes Penny goes under the covers when we are in bed. She tickles like the dickens! LOL George usually cuddles with one of us before we go to sleep. It used to always be Mark but now a lot of times he cuddles with me. The only bad part about the cuddles is that they include lots of kneading with his great big claws!

Pat, such cute kitties! Butterfly reminds me of my Sneaks - she was a tuxedo cat too, with a hole in one sock. She was my best cat ever; I lost her 26 years ago and miss her to this day. Not that I don't love the ones I've had since. Henry and Mango like to sleep with me too; sometimes Henry sleeps on one side and Mango on the other - I feel like the cream filling in a cat Oreo! Other times they curl up together dead center in the bed - it's like sleeping with a spare tire. Mango likes to wake me up in the morning with kitty kisses - that rough tongue will really get your attention - and I don't like her licking my face, so I have to get right up!

Barb ... that is so funny  ... Butterfly gives kitty kisses, too. She has four perfect little white feet and that endearing "sploosh" on her nose that earned her her name.  At a certain angle when she was young it looked like a little black butterfly resting on her nose.  This is the cat that was my daughter's.  As a teenager, my daughter loved her kitty and obviously lavished her with attention.  She is very affectionate (The Cat ... although My Girl is pretty sweet ... ) For a long time Butterfly missed Marissa a lot and she accepted my condolences, but she really missed The Girl.  Now she has finally realized that Marissa has a new cat and Butterfly has decided she is mine and she is much happier again.  I had a very loving cat that was a darker version of Katniss when I was growing up and that cat was "my baby."  Butterfly is now "my baby"   Butterfly likes to play spare tire in the middle of the bed all by herself.  I do not know how one small cat can take up so much space.  So far she will let Katniss sleep in the basket next to the bed but she does not want Katniss on her bed.  Katniss is making inroads.  I may get that "Oreo Cream" feeling soon ... lol

Debbieann ... Butterfly was hanging out in the sewing room today so I thought I would ask her to model my strippings  like Ms Miai ... here is the result ... she even turned around at one point in her nap and did not dislodge the strips ... she was still cat napping when I left the room and Charlie looked in and said ... "What did you do to the cat?"

Pat love it.....fabrics and kitties.....Butterfly looks so hmmmmm...impressed. Wonderful how we set up photoshots for our precious pals.

I envy you all .....Ms Miai is NOT a sleep on the bed at night kitty. In the 9yrs I have had her only twice I woke up to find her on the bed.
Now during the day I have laid down for a nap & she has got up and put her head in my hand and we have fallen asleep.

She does not cuddle like yours - under blankets etc..... Maybe as she gets older it might happen....lol.

Love the pic of George ---very at home....lol He is some handsome boy there.

Hugs and stitches

Here is Penny in a bag full of stuff. We love the little blaze on her nose, too. And this is her usual look - disdain. She also has white feet.
