'Tis the Season for a new Fabric Swap!

This Swap is Complete!

Please join us next time.

“Christmas Red and Greens and Gold” Fabric Swap 2009

This is a 10” Square Layer Cake Swap.

Sets of TEN 10” squares will be swapped.

Nola has graciously agreed to be my Co-Host again for this swap.

Thanks, Nola!

It is fall in New England. Crisp. Clear. Cool. The leaves are turning brilliant shades of red and yellow and gold and orange.  Soon the leaves will fall and then the snow. The seasons are turning in my quilty corner of the world.  Nature must be telling me it 'Tis the Season for a new Fabric Swap.

Here are the dates:
Sign-ups until November 6th

Please mail your swap packages no later than November 6th
I will swap and return by November 28th or two weeks after the last swap packet is received by me.

If possible, I will avoid sending duplicates, but swappers with multiple sets should expect some duplicate fabrics.

We will again be swapping 10” squares in sets of TEN.

You may swap as many sets as you like. Scrappy sets are okay.
However, PLEASE DO NOT SEND MORE THAN 10 squares or ONE SET of each fabric.

I will be again making an album so we may enjoy seeing all the fabric and I will ask you to post pictures of your fabric in the thread or email them to me and I will post them in the album.  If you do not have a camera, you may still participate, but please check the album carefully for duplicates.  I will take a picture of your fabrics and post them when I receive them.

Important note … please send only 100% cotton quilting quality fabrics and please be sure that you wash and press all fabrics.  Please cut carefully and be sure that all selvages are removed from all squares. Squares that have any SELVAGE showing WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU UNSWAPPED.

Also … your sets may be scrappy, but please be sure all fabrics MEET THE FABRIC REQUREMENTS OF THIS SWAP …

All fabrics should beChristmas Red/Green/Cream and Gold  … LIGHT, MEDIUM to DARK … all shades of red, green,  gold, cream and white … prints and tonals or solids are all okay … checks and plaids are okay …  gold metallics are okay … (I know a few of you do not like metallics and if you let me know I will try not to send the in your swap fabric) … small to medium print motifs should be winter or Christmas themed … such as holly leaves, berries, pine needles, swirls, dots, snowflakes, poinsettias,  stars, etc … for this swap please choose prints that only have these colors: red, green, gold, cream and/or white.  If you have any questions, about your fabrics please contact me.

Here are some sample fabrics …

I am thinking I would like to add a couple of borders and make a scrappy quilt like this one that is the current issue of Quiltmaker magazine …

"Piece and Goodwill"

http://www.quiltmaker.com/patterns/details.html?idx=9384

There is a FREE pdf pattern for these blocks and a layout for a smaller quilt that includes pink and yellow here …

http://www.quiltmaker.com/patterns/details.html?idx=9386

This was a very good issue of Quiltmaker and I love their web bonus free patterns.

Please pack each set separately in a plastic baggie with your name and address and Set # on the outside.

Please be sure to return and STAMPED self-addresses return envelope.

Please only use STAMPS on your return envelopes … no pre-dated postage labels will be accepted by my post office.

Please use Priority Mail or First Class padded envelopes.  You may send Parcel Post but please be sure to allow at least an extra week mailing time. If you would like a Delivery Confirmation Number for the return package please enclose the extra cost in your envelope.

International swappers are welcome. Please send a self-addressed envelope.  Fabric may be sent in exchange for your return postage.  Just PM me and we can work out a special arrangement for return postage.

In the last swap I had to absorb a lot of extra return mailing expenses, including one person who never reimbursed me for her return postage.  Any return envelope that does not have postage or special arrangements will not be mailed back until I have received compensation.

Most of you are such wonderful swappers and always send extra postage and goodies.  {{{{{{{Thank You Hugs}}}}}))

To Sign-Up, all participants should please post in this thread and send me a Private Message with your …

Okay Ms Pat! I knew this was coming and kept my eyes peeled at the lqs for fabric when it started to come in I grabbed it! I already have mine washed now I need to cut it and send it on! Although I forgot how much I bought, so I need to measure and then I can tell you how many sets I will be sending! I have to tell Nikki about this one too! She wanted in on it too, when I told her you would be doing one!

sherry, insider trading is illegal you know . . . altho some members of the Q&N personnel can be bribed, er um, i mean, gently persuaded to overlook such incidents when such information is shared

Well Ms Cindy, don't know about any insider trading going on, just call it fabroholics intuition?
I would never do anything illegal! So don't start pointing fingers yet! But it's nice to know that persuading is legal! LOL!!!

Ms. Cindy ...  I like that pattern! I shall have to go dig that issue out of the stack   ... oh ... and, um ...   someone did post on the last page of her last swap that ...

" ...Then I do plan to do a red, green and gold Christmas fabric swap  ... like the new Flourish fabrics on pre-order in the shop ...

http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/Browse_dept_items.asp?Shopper_id=7626617952147626&Store_id=691&Page_id=17&categ_id=80&parent_ids=0,46

I love that poinsetta print ...

Then sometime after the first of the year I will be doing the Batik Fabric Swap, I think.

I will probably keep with the 10" square layer cake cuts.  These seem to be easy, cost efficient and very versatile. ..."

... so we are all "insiders" ... lol!

I am still planning to do a batik swap after the first of the year ... I love scrappy batik quilts and use small pieces of them in other quilts sometimes, too. Then I think for the spring swap I am going to do 30's repros ... I need a bunch of them to finish the scrappy setting for my BC Favorite Block Quilt and I do not have much in my stash.   So here is the scoop of upcoming swaps ...

Sherry, Dorian, Annette and Sally ... welcome to the swap! Of course, I have information  for all of you so no need to send again.  Just let me know how many sets when you have had time to wash and cut ...   Pat

Cindy ... oh no, no no ... now that sing-song Cindi Lauper song is going to be stuck in my head all day ...   ... I found the 2008 December's issue of Quiltmaker ... that is a nice pattern for this swap!!

Susie ...  I am happy you are joining us again! I know just what you mean.  I could go out and buy a bunch of assorted fat quarters ...  but it is so much fun to receive fabric in the mail  ... and when I look at my quilts afterwards, I think of my quilty pals and smile ...

Gerda ... I will put you down with a question mark ... you can let me know for sure later ... and I know you are one of the ladies who does not like gold metallic in your fabrics so I will try to keep that out of your layer cakes ...

Here is my pattern find of the day ... this little mini quilt would make a nice table mat or wall decoration for the holidays ... and it would look good in these scrappy greens and reds and golds ...

http://www.patchalotpatterns.com/ChristmasPunch2009instructions.html

Enjoy!   Pat

Hi,

Our plans changed a bit. DH got sick, so I had time to look and feel my stash.

I found some things that are not designated 'Christmas projects', so put me down for at least 3 sets. When we get back and I actually start cutting, I may have more. Besides, I hope to do some shopping on the road! LOL

Got my fabric washed and hung on the rack to dry!  Later today I'll press it and start cutting!  Still planning on 4 sets, unless I find enough odds and ends for a mixed set.  Next week my "old-people's check" will be in the bank and I may head over to the LQS for a couple more pieces I spotted after I'd cut the ones I bought.  Will get pictures posted soon.

Annette ... sorry to hear your DH has not been well ... I hope he is a feeling much better soon ...

Barb, Colleen and Betty Jo ... welcome to the swap!

I will all you all to the list.

I will also be starting the album although for now I have only my "sample" fabrics to add.  Many of these are only fat quarters or are set aside for another project so I shall be doing some shop hopping soon ...

One swapper had a question about a fabric that had a small amount of black in the background.  I told her this would be okay.  I expect we will be seeing some black lines in some of the prints for definition and that is fine, but please chose fabrics that are predominantly red/green/cream and gold  ... clear as mud?   Pat

<p>Me too, Annette - I'm planning some shopping on the road. Ron and I are headed East on Saturday to visit my mom and then play on the Outer Banks for a couple of days. There's a really nice LQS not too far from my mother's house (and I just got word that in December they're moving to a new location - even closer - yippee!), so I'm pretty sure I can drop in there. And who knows what I might find in Carolina - I'm going to Google it directly and find out! I love Christmas fabric. </p><p>Barb</p>

sally, it'll depend on how much of the air you get out of the plastic bags, but on the americana swap, i think i got 3 sets plus a little "hostess gift" for nola and of course my return envelope into the priority mail envelope.  i might've been able to squeeze in a 4th set - all i can say is try before you seal it up.

correction, sally!  i went back and looked, i had 4 sets for the americana swap so YES 4 sets and your return envelope will fit into a regular priority mail envelope.  i'm not sure you can fit more than that tho - i do remember my envelope being pretty full.

Here's a pic of my fabrics so far.  The gold piece and the red with gold berries is from Moda's Holly Jolly Snowmen collection.  The plaid one is a Windham Fabric called Williamsburg Holiday Heritage, and the other one is Red Marbles by Moda - not really a Christmas fabric but the bright red looked so Christmasy I decided to use it.

Thanks, Sally!  I especially like the green plaid piece.  After I'd cut these the day I worked at the LQS, I spotted some other fabric that I'd missed, so I may go back in the next few days and grab a couple more pieces.  LOL

I've just gone through my Christmas Stash. I'm long on reds 'cause I like red.

Are these okay or should I go shopping? Great fabrics Nola!

Thank you Dorian. I agonized over that one, but then I looked at the pattern Pat (and I) like/s in the new Quiltmaker Mag. and they call for 2" squares. The roses are large enough to get a great color variation, but not the rose. Still in doubt, so not sure about sending that one though.

Hope your feeling better and enjoying the season.

Hello, everyone ... please forgive my lapse in maintaining this thread.  I have been rather ill for the last week or so.  I am feeling somewhat better today and I hope to have answers to any and all questions later in the day.

I do have over 70 messages in my email box to wade through and one of them is yours, I would appreciate you continuing to have patience with me while I catch up.

I am seeing some beautiful fabrics here, ladies ...  BBS   Pat

Sally, nice trains and bears! Pat, I've been thinking about the Piece and Goodwill pattern and then I thought of this one. I think I will try it. It is very similar though. Annette pattern can be found at: http://www.andoverfabrics.com/QuiltDesigns/QuiltDesigns.asp

"Spice Train" is about 1/2-way down the page.  Just click on that to take you to the pattern page!

oh ms pat!!!!!  i bought 2 more pieces today . . . so i reckon i am in for 6 sets i'll post pics of my new sets tomorrow sometime . . .

i am loving the fabrics i am seeing!!  annette, so good of the cleaning fairy to find those fabrics for you!  she is so sweet!

sally, i love the santa & train!  will have to look on their site for some - would be great for carter's christmas stocking.  i am carrying on a tradition my mother started for wren and my great-nephew, david allen.  she found a stocking pattern that is in the shape of longjohns!  too too cute, i tell ya!  anyways, after she passed away, i found the pattern and saved it to continue for her for anymore great-grandchildren that come along.  now carter needs one!

annette, i love your pattern!!  but, ummmm . . . would it be possible for you to post the link to the site where the pattern can be found - rather than the link to the pdf itself?  it's kinda . . . well . . . illegal to link directly to the pdf of the pattern . . . copyright rules you know sorry about the inconvenience . . . and many thanks for your understanding!

it's ok, annette!  i found the site and changed your link to the webpage that leads you to the pattern.  all is hunky-dory now

and i have to say, i love it most in the christmas colors!!  not that dislikes browns, but i just LOVE christmas fabrics!

y'all, just scroll down about halfway to find the "Spice Train", click on the name or the picture and that will take you to the pdf to download.

betty jo, can you take a pic and post it?  or perhaps email to me at cindy@thequiltandneedle.com and i will forward it to ms. pat for her decision?  ms. pat has set very specific color guidelines for this swap - but she always says if there is a doubt to ask!

The fabric is already starting to arrive at my door to brighten my day and get me into the holiday spirit early this year

Annette ... your 5 sets have arrived!  These fabrics are just "gawgus"

Sally ... your adorable 4 sets are here, too ... very cute!

Betty Jo ... if the colors in your fabrics are all red, green, gold, white or cream (some black for definition is okay) and print scale is not too large, they may be fine to go ... but, as Cindy says, it would be wonderful if you can post a picture or send it to me in an email.  If the prints have too many other colors in them they may not work into the patterns being planned by the swappers.  Clear as mud?

Ann has joined the swap with us. Welcome to the swap, Ann!

Sign-ups will be closing soon!

Please let me know if you wish to join.  You may let me know later after you have gone through your stash and/or shopped what your final set count will be.

Annette ... I am loving the patterns on the website you posted ... thank you for sharing!   Pat

Are TOTs (red and green) OK for this swap? If so, please up me to 3 sets. I will send you a pic as soon as my computer is up and running again. thanks, Pat.

Pat, do you have my current address etc? If not, I will send it to you when my new computer is up and running - DH couldn't clone my old drive, so he is having to copy the whole thing! All 80 GBs of it! I'm thinking, since it's already been 24 hours and less than half has copied (who knows why??) it may be Monday or Tuesday before I'm back on my old one.

OK so I am definitely in for 3 sets, and if possible, no metallics for me. Thanks, hon! :)

oh ms pat!!  gawjus fabrics!!  everyone's fabrics are gawjus!  got mine cut and ready to send out next week . . . soon as i get an envelope 6 sets will not fit very well in the regular priority envelope . . .

gerda, WOW that's a lot of stuff to copy!  and YES  to the TOTs, at least that's my opinion since i'll need a few for bows for my intended pattern of choice!  so i do hope ms pat agrees

here's a pic of my #5 & 6 sets:  sorry, gerda, they both have a bit of metallic in them, but i just could NOT resist!!  in fact, i got extra of the red and i may talk myself into getting more of the green . . . trying to wait and see what i get in the swap . . .

Welcome to the Swap, Kim and Nikki!

Gerda ... thanks for the info ...

Dorian ... I will update you for 3 sets ...

Cindy ... thanks for adding your fabrics to the album ...

Ladies ...  since we have had a couple of swappers jump in recently, I am leaving the sign-ups open until November 6th, which is also the "Mail By" date I am asking all of you to please have your fabric flying my way so that I may swap and turn these around in plenty of time for us to use this fabric for our holiday projects this year.

I have updated the album here with a photo of Kim's pretty fabrics ...

Pam, I never heard of it either - I think I may have been the originator of that expression!  I started saying that several years ago 'cause I was always telling my family, "I'll be ready just as soon as I brush my teeth & hair, and do my thing on the potty!"  So I just shorted it to "brush & flush"!

Pat, my fabrics are on their way!

Ooooh, I love that first one, Dorian! I can't send a pic of mine yet - my new computer is not completely set up yet, and the old one is no longer connected to the internet :(

Pat my fabrics went to the post office today! But I don't think I added enough for postage, so will send a little something tomorrow or Monday. They told me 6 or so business days.

Ladies ... I shall be watching the mail for more lovely deliveries ...

Betty Jo ... not to worry ... it is only one set ... only a few stamps and I think I can reuse the envelope ...

Gerda ... ditto ...

I have done some more updating of the album ...

Dorian ... I could not snag the pretty cream Fabric 2 picture you posted for some reason ... can you add it to the album or send it to me in an email, please?

Swappers ... I am posting a link to a block lotto running on Block Central (I know many of you are members there, too, but some may not have found this) as the colors are so much like the ones in this swap ...

http://blockcentral.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/970609484/m/963109622

that I thought some of you may be interested.  Enjoy!

Nola ... I love the "brush 'n' flush"   I am going to be "borrowing" this one ... ... it is pretty much my "beauty routine" for the day and for anytime I go out the door ... lol ...    Pat

Glad my fabrics arrived safely, Pat, and happy you like my "brush 'n flush" saying!  That's the sum total of my beauty routine too - brush my teeth, brush my hair, wash my face, and flush the pot - no make-up at all, ever!  I hate the stuff!  If people don't like me in my natural form, then they can just look the other way!

Looking forward to today - I get to play (work) for 7 hours at the LQS!  Wonder what new lovelies she's gotten in since my last trip there!!!

Ms. Pat I talked to Nikki and she said she has 5 sets. If it's okay with you I think we will mail ours together again. I will be sure to mark each package and the return package will just be to my address and I will have it ready to go. If this isn't good for you just send me a pm and let me know!

Hi Pat, I just put 5 cakes in the mail to you and, wonder of wonders, I didn't pound anybody at the PO, although it was tempting. I took some pictures and will try to put them up tonight, but I seem to have problems getting them posted. For someone who uses a computer all day at work, I seem to lack a lot of computer savvy! No, Cindy, I don't - if I see a freebie booklet in the store, I grab one, and I do get recipe e-mails from several companies (not sure if Kraft is one?) - I will check it out? So is it an actual in-your-hands type book/let??

My computer is doing well, Bill thinks he has most of the files transferred but isn't sure - my old computer is still sitting here beside me, and both are hooked up to our new 1 TB (that's TERRABYTE) external drive. Not too shabby for $150!! Lots and lots and lots of backup space!!

gerda, it USED to be free - online viewing as well as in your mailbox.  but considering i got an invoice for the subscription fee, all that is fixin' to change.  you can't access it thru the website anymore either - paid subscription only.  still deciding if i am gonna pay - it's not much, but considering it was mostly advertising for kraft products, i am disappointed that kraft decided to charge.  i really did use alot of their recipes from these booklets.  wondering now if i will continue to get emails with the recipes . . . time will tell . . .

The fabric is arriving daily and brightening my spirits considerably ...

Susie and Barb ... your fabrics are here ... and they are so fine ... ... Swappers, you are going to love all of these ...

The variety and selection of fabrics should make this an easy swap and turn-around ... the only difficult part will be sending some of the beauties away ...

I am trying to post pictures of the new arrivals ... I recently bought a new scan disk for my camera as the others were full and for some reason I am getting an error message trying to load the new pictures in my computer   ... I hope to have this ironed out and post new photos in the album later today ... Pat

Thank you, everyone, for your patience and understanding.

I still have not received swap fabric or heard from Genia.

This is very unsual. Genia has always been such a good swapper that I would like to wait to hear from her so that she may still participate in this swap if she wishes to do so.

Genia ... I hope all is okay with you. Sweetie ... {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}} Pat

Genia ... prayers going out to you, Sweetie, that all is well and that you will be back with us soon ...

I have decided that I should not wait any longer and I need to swap and send what I have received.

I will get on this ASAP and let everyone know when your red and green squishy packages are on their way home!

Thank you for your patience ... {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}} Pat

  Good News, Swappers!

I have heard from Genia and, after a mishap with the mailing label which had her own fabric returned to her while she was away,   she is again sending 12 beautiful sets!

I have swapped what I have in anticipation and when hers arrive I will "frost" your layer cakes, check them all again and pack them up and mail ... hopefully by Saturday!

Now we don't have to stress over going ahead without you!

And we get more fabric to swap!

oh, well ... Santa shall not be dropping off your swap fabric from his sleigh, afterall ...

I am still waiting to receive Genia's swap fabric.

I am going to have to tuck all this away until after Christmas at this point as it is in the way in my dining room and I need the space for our family get-together.

I am not feeling very happy at this point about how long overdue the return mailing is for this swap.  Please continue to bear with me, my quilty pals ...

Please do not worry Pat. All good things come to those who wait. And I am sure none of us mind waiting. I know I don't.
I hope you and your family have a great time. And a very merry Christmas to one and all, everyone.

Good things are indeed well worth waiting for!

Here is a photo of Genia's 14 big beautiful sets which arrived today ...

... just "gawjus!"

Since I have had to tuck away all the other swap fabric so I have room in my dining/sewing room for our holiday festivities, I will not be able to complete the swap and send until at least after Christmas. I think I may have time to get this done during the week between Christmas and New Year's, but, if not, I will get to it as soon as possible after the first of the year.

May all of you have a very Merry Christmas and be dreaming of the wonderful scrappy quilts we will be making with all of this beautiful fabric in the New Year.

  Squishies are swishing your way!!

All of these return packages are in the mail as of today!!

On Friday, I found a mistake I had made recording the number of sets for two swappers and had to send some PMs to try to clear this up before I could mail these all out. I think I have everything correct now. Should any of you find any problems, please let me know and I will make amends.

There was such a lovely variety of fabrics in this swap that I believe that no one received any duplicates except Genia and myself ... both of us ended up with 14 sets.

I hope all of you enjoy your swap fabric as much as I enjoyed hosting this swap and I look forward to hearing that these squishies arrive to their new homes safely.

Happy Quilty Wishes ...  :-) Pat

Pat, my gorgeous fabric arrived today!  Woo-Hoo!  Haven't opened all the baggies yet to look at them.  Stupid me forgot to bring the mail in until just a few minutes ago, and now it's bedtime, so I'm saving them - something to look forward to tomorrow!  I noticed that you had to add extra postage to mine - I'm so sorry.  The postal lady I always go to usually does a better job than that.  As soon as I get to the LQS I'll pick up a nice FQ or two to reimburse you for postage.

Nola ... so glad to hear your package arrived!  I think you will be happy when you open your baggies ... the fabrics are so nice for this swap!

About the extra postage ... not to worry ... the rates went up a week or so ago ... so you (and everyone else) most likely added enough originally ... if I had gotten these in the mail before Christmas as planned ... it would have been fine ... so I "snoozed and loozed" on this one ... Pat

Oh Pat, I got mine today. They came early, but I waited to open them after DH got home from a 3 day business trip. We were both excited and really impressed with how many different fabrics there are! Thank you sooooo much. I did notice you had to add postage to mine as well. Yes Cindy, everything went up. Let me ponder on this and you may get a surprise soon.

I'm so excited! DH has been in Reno on business, so I used the time to cut out a couple of projects, but I may have to cut out this one now to have 3 ready to make up. I'm getting really excited to use this up! Oops, forgot. I have a fat 'ugly' to get made....

Thank you, Annette

Pat

Got my lovely fabric a couple of days ago. THANK YOU for waiting for me and I most Humbly apologize to EVERYONE for making Pat so late on mailing out your fabric--still can't believe I put my own mailing address label on the box when I mailed it out--guess I was just trying to get everything done too fast before I went out of town. I'm the reason Pat was late and I'll make it up to her on the postage increase. Hope everyone enjoys their fabrics!!

Sherry ... good to hear you an Nikki have your squishies ...

Ann ... that did not take long to get to Nova Scotia ...

I shall go update the first post and see how many more are still finding their way home.

Thanks to everyone who joined this swap!

Thanks, also, to all of you who sent those wonderful extra squishy gifts and who enclosed a little extra to help where needed with the postage ... y'all are so nice!!!

It will be spring, I think, before I set up another swap ... not sure when and what it will be ... we shall see ...   Pat

Oh, Pat, you do know how to tempt a girl!! LOL I'm trying NOT to join in more swaps (since fabric and postage costs are so much higher here and money is getting squeezed tighter by the day :( ) - I will keep it in mind, though - there is only one LQS around here that sells the 30s fabrics - no, I lie, FAbricland has a very few now, I forgot about them - and though they are a chain, they have #1 quality fabrics - current lines, too!

I will think on it, and when you DO decide, I'll decide - how's that? :)

Hey Pat

I do like the sound of the 30's swap. Let me know when. I read back on how your Christmas one was done. So the only mailing I would have to do is to the hostess/swapper. Correct.lol

This could be a fun spring.

YAH I am alll for it Pat!! LOL but you knew that

Yes Debbieann, all you do is cut your fabric, put 1 set in each plastic bag with name on it, send them all (however many sets you want to do) to Pat, with a SASE and she does the magic and sends different fabric back.

Debbie, as to the SASE, since we cannot put Canadian (or British or Aussie, etc.) stamps on to be mailed FROM the US, we usually send FQs or something of equal value - you discuss this with Pat (or in different swaps - like the Christmas ornament swap we had - the presiding hostess who does the swapping) , usually in a PM, as to what is appropriate.

Good news!

Jess has approved a Spring Fabric Swap and Nola has agreed to be my co-host again! Thanks, ladies!

So ...

The "Spring Back to the 30's" Layer Cake Swap will be posted soon!

Our "Layer Cakes" will again be sets of TEN 10" squares ...

All 30's repros, washed quality all-cotton fabrics.

This will follow the same guidelines as the Winter Swap.

The only change will be regarding DUPLICATES.  Although there is a vast variety of 30's repros, many of them are very similar in design and color and although I will ask swappers to submit photos of their fabrics again for us to all enjoy ... and to try to avoid sending the same fabric as another swapper...  it may be too difficult to tell from a photo if the fabrics are actually the same.  So, although I will again try to avoid duplicates in return packages, I am not going to worry too much about this. Okay, swappers?

Everyone welcome!

Swappers from outside the USA may again make private arrangements to send additional fabric for the return postage.

Time frame will be to have sign-ups until mid-March. All fabric should be mailed to me by the end of March and hopefully (if all the swap packets are received by me by mid-April) I will have the return packages in the mail by the end of April.

So let's start planning our swap!

  Pat

YAH!!! Thanks Ms Pat, and Nola, and Jess

Sigh~ we drove by my LQS yesterday, and I saw that it was either closed for good, or just moved...as it was another store now    she had lots of '30s repo's, that I was planning on buying for this. Guess I'll have to find some elsewhere.

hmmmm ...

Thanks to all who are posting feedback

I am sure we can work out some of these issues.

There is plenty of time for USA swappers to find some bargains online, I think ... such as these ...

Jess still has some Pampered Pooch left ... here is a five yard bundle for a good price ..

http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/Browse_Item_Details.asp?Shopper_id=864212134618864&Store_id=691&page_id=23&Item_ID=1772

and a few pieces here ...

http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/Browse_dept_items.asp?Shopper_id=864212134618864&Store_id=691&Page_id=17&categ_id=31&parent_ids=0,47

other possibilities ...

http://www.sewrepro.com/cgi-bin/Store/store.cgi?cart_id=6577866.18709.s0&lastmenu=&menu=submenu-2000.html

http://www.stitch-n-frame.net/cgi-bin/Store/store.cgi?keywords=fresh%20picked&tracking4=search%20fresh%20picked

http://www.whittlesfabrics.com/cgi-bin/Store/store.cgi

http://www.quiltfabriccloseouts.com/cgi-bin/Store/store.cgi?keywords=30's&tracking4=search%2030's

.. just to show a few

If you are an international swapper who wants to participate and cannot get these locally ... or are concerned about postage ... please feel free to PM me so we may work something out.

It may be possible for a few of you outside the USA to order your fabric online here and have it shipped to me and I will wash, cut and stack ... a yard yields one set of 10 and there would be two extra squares of your own fabric for me to send home to you. For postage we can figure something out.

For example, I love Australian quilt magazines and maybe those of you OZ could send a few from your stacks in lieu of pastage.

For those of you in the UK, I am sure we can find something that will work for both of us.

I always accept fabric instead of postage from out of country swappers (it does not have to be swap theme) and particularly like medium tone-on-tones of any color.

What I usually do is let you know how much it will cost me to send to you by our postal rates and you can just use this to figure how much fabric to send ... in the case of Canadian swappers, for two or three sets it would only be a couple of your fat quarters.

Ann ... for example ... I really like the neutrals in your RR ... and I am going to be needing a lot of these for some scrappy settings (like with my Americana swap fabric) ... so you could maybe send some sets of neutrals and I will just absorb them ...

So if you are on the fence and want to jump in ... just let me know ...    Pat

Pat, FYI - the magazines are a good idea, but they cost a lot to ship (in case you didn't know ) Midge sent me one once in exchange for some fabric she couldn't get there, and I was appalled at the cost to send one magazine here! Sending fabric in lieu of always made the most sense to me.

I am still thinking on this one - only one store locally (well, in the next city over) sells 30s fabrics - I need to keep costs in mind, so may just pass on this. We'll see.

Well, for those outside of US, I know you have to pay customs charges if you roder, but don't know how much, but if we buy and ship as a 'gift', do you have to pay fees? There are a few lovely 30s on sale at Quilt in a Day for $3.00 right now (less than 2 pounds!!! Don't know why my computer doesn't have that 'L' symbol....) and just a wee bit more than 2 Euros, less than 4 Canadian dolloars, I think!
http://www.quiltinaday.com/shoponline/fabricyard.asp?fabric=fabclea...
just look at pages 10 & 11 for examples (there's also some RJR ones)--also has other 30s in other categories for $5 or more, but these are the ones in clearance!

If it's from a friend, no customs, but if it comes from a store (I know I pay a bit for Connecting Threads orders), I think I do, but maybe not - golly, that sounds so uncertain!! But I haven't ordered much online, so I don't really remember. I do know we have to pay GST on stuff coming in.

Wow, that's a great price!!!

Here's some that would also do "Quilter's calicos", most for $3 yd. http://www.marshalldrygoods.com/store/index.php?l=product_list&c=69
Not sure if they ship outside of US (but any of us could order them and ship them on, I would think.) Can't remember what they charge to ship in US (I don't pay for shipping from QIAD because I pick up my orders once a month when I go to class, might not be up to Canada or over to UK or OZ in time for this if I waited until 2nd Tues. in March!) Last time I ordered from Marshall's I got about 20 yds and shipping was around $13. I always spend $50 at Connecting Threads (free ship) and $35 at fabric.com (free ship). I think it's around $5-$7 for 5-6yds in US.... those same 5-6 yards can be shipped to Canada for 9.95 or UK for 11.95, I think.

Ladies hold on to your pins - 30's fabric at the local spots here run from 10.00 - 15.00 mtr. Sometimes you can get a sale for under 10.00. Am scouting the costs tomorrow- ooops I guess I mean today.lol . Got to find some tire fabric for those VW's. Let you know what I find.

Hugs and stitches

I have talked to Jacqui about this, and she says that she has to PAY to get things from the PO. Gifts and packages that are over $8 I think she said, she might of said $5.

So she told me when filling out the customs forms (I send her magazines from time to time) to put GIFT on the form and put it is under $5....no matter how much it really is worth. That way she doesn't have to pay to get it.
