oh and on an additional note to that, I have at least one possibly two (haven't tested it out to see if it's still in decent working order) machines that I could bring for those flying so they won't have to bring theirs.

Yep, they are Jenn. If we decide we want to go somewhere else instead, or in addition to these, that is great with me!! You ladies just let me know what you want to do!! And yes, a money order would be great.

Sherry!! So glad you and Nikki will join us!! You should send your deposits as soon as possible, as your spot is held "officially" with that deposit. All of the ladies who attended last year made their deposits at the retreat last March for next March. Clear as mud?

The first shop we went to last year was great. Friendly staff and great selection. We stimulated the economy pretty well over there. The second place had some nice stuff, but they were more focused on knitting, and I know Milica wanted some FQs of several bolts and they wouldn't cut them for her. We didn't spend as long there. I'll go wherever though, just curious if there are other shops in the area. I'll see what I can find.

How do you have us pay for this? Just send you the balance at once, or in increments by certain due dates, etc.? Ashley's gonna be ticked she won't get to come but...mommy needs some adult time, lol! I'm trying to talk my mom into coming with me and getting my step dad to watch Jacob. He's the only one I'd need someone for. She'd fit right in with you all. I'm *this* close to getting her registered here....

Jess--

Would you please put Laura and me down. I really wanted to come to the last retreat but my vacation didn't work out right.

This time work will get plenty of notice and as long as spring break isn't close should work out.

Thanks!!!

Genia

Planning on it and can't wait!  Nikki and I are both very excited! We both are having a great time here and can't wait to meet all of you crazy ladies! She has never been away from both of her kids at the same time for that long, so it will be great mommy time. Plus, she and I have never done anything like this together for this amount of time! Quality mother daughter time! And she is the one who said, "Mom, we have to do this!"

So, see you all in Tomball, 2010! (And Nikki's birthday is March 18th so we will be celebrating while we are there!)

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Okay, that fills us up for certain!! Hehe. We may have to look for another retreat facility next year, with more space. We shall see. Perhaps we want to have 2 retreats per year so that we can stay in Tomball but have more folks? Hmmm... Just wouldn't be the same without everyone there....

I did speak with Diane at the Quilter's Cabin and she has a trundle bed that we can use for number 13, no problem. Also, there are extra tables that are in the big closet that we can use as sewing tables if we need to. I will put the Q&N fabrics in the living room or somewhere else so that we will have the entire sewing room. I know we can make room so everyone can come and enjoy it!!

Ladies, don't forget to send your retreat deposits my way if you haven't already. I will try to keep the list up to date.

Oh, I am so excited!!!!!

And a birthday for Nikki while we are there... that means cake!!

Jess-

Would it be possible to list everyone's favorite colors beside our names on the first page? Mine are blue and red. (I'm ready to get started on my "goodies".)

Thanks!

Just so you know, my favorite color is blue! All shades, light blue, dark blue, bright blue, you name it!

So where do you ladies come up with your goody ideas? I would love to do something for everybody but don't know what you all already have or need. If you could share ideas from the past it might help me to know what has already been done. I have been looking and gotten a few ideas but just not sure what to do.

And for the fat quarter game, how many fqs do we bring? What about door prizes? I'm getting more excited every day! I can't wait! Please share any info you think I might need!

Look out Tomball!

Cindy I do love Dachshunds too. Rick grew up with them and they are the breed that we rescue. But I grew up with German Shepards and absolutely love them. I have one now finally and he is fabulous. He travels with me when I go to see Jess and he spends his days following me around the house. He came from the shelter a few months ago and was about 10 months old at the time. He was already house trained and other than chewing up a few shoes (Bad Jake!!) he does very well in the house.

I would like to volunteer to do the meal on Wednesday night. Since Jess and I are usually the first to arrive it makes it easy for me to get dinner going and then once everyone begins to arrive we don't have to worry about our evening meal.

Looking forward to meeting you new ladies!!!

Connie

Like my mom said I have never been away from my kids for any length of time so we will see how we all take this! I am excited and SOOO glad I talked mom into going! Look forward to meeting you all!

Hi Nikki!! Well, we are sooo glad that you and your mom have decided to come!! And I am not really sure how much fun I will have being away from Sapphire Jean when she is so little... in fact, not sure how I will work it out since I am nursing her... we shall see.

Okay, I googled it, there are lots of small gift ideas out there for quilters. You can read the posts above (and on the previous page I think) for samples of what folks brought last year. Here are a few websites that give additional ideas. I wouldn't do anything as big as table runners, etc. but check book covers, pin cushions, needle cases, etc. are great ideas. And remember, you don't have to make something if you are not inclined to do so. Lots of us bring store bought gifts (notions, fabric, etc.) for everyone. And these gifts are totally optional - do what you want with the time and cash you have available for this retreat, but do not stress about it. Think laid back, easy, fun, or funny!!

http://sewingneedlework.suite101.com/article.cfm/sewing_and_quilting_gift_ideas

And here is my google search:

Hi ladies!!

I have had a couple of requests for quilt shop stops on Saturday... so... if you are going to be with us on Saturday and want to stop at a specific store, let us know which one. I will try to plan an enjoyable and not overly exhausting outing for us. If any of the shops don't make it on the Saturday list, than we can always do an impromptu outing at a different time.

Cool? So where do you wanna go?

Hey girlies

Sheesh...figures I wouldn't even notice that this thread was up and going. Jess/Cindy put me down for Friday brunch. I'll do my breakfast bake again. (That is unless you want to divvy up some duties Miss Pat.)

Jami - might you be bringing something wonderful from Iowa?

As to favorite colors, mine is purple with pink running a close second. (I had to pick pink writing since Miss Cindy nabbed the purple faster speeding bullet ) Counting the days my friends.

I just bought 40# of "it" here...99 cents a pound! Couldn't pass it up! Roger and I will be eating good at least 1 night a week for quite a while!

Okay Jami, if this is something that might spoil and everybody LOVES "it" far be it from me and Nikki to let it ruin! If you want to swap nights to cook we can do that! Only thing is: I need to know what"it" is! Curious minds need to know!

Sherry-

"It" is Iowa Pork Chops. Home grown here and cut at a fantastic 1 1/4" - 1 1/2" thick...grilled to perfection!! Yum, Yum!!! I drive from Iowa to Texas and it takes me 2 days on the road. I start with them frozen, but they are thawing by the time I get there (at least they were last year, & this year we are going a week later).

If you don't mind, I would love to be able to trade nights with you and Nikki.

Thank you so much!!!

I had a phone call from Nancy last night. She is doing good!! While we were visiting, we got to talking about the food and meals while we are there.

Cindy- I think Nancy would like to help with our meal if that is okay with you?

aww that was so sweet of you sherry!

i made the changes on page 1.  looking over the avaiable spots, we still have these slots open:
     thursday brunch
     sunday brunch, dinner and dessert

and jami, of course it's ok with me if nancy joins us!    of course it might cost her . . . just a wee little email with her etouffe recipe . . . i had elgalene make me some last time i was in MS, but it just was not nancy's - but don't tell elgalene i said that!!!

Wow, we are up to 13 people! Has anyone heard anything more from Genia and Laura??

I'm working on my goodies now. Finished up one the other night. I think they are going to be handy little things!

Hi Jami -

Cindy is one of my Mom's students and is also a great customer at the Q&N store. I know she has been on the forum a couple of times, I just don't think she has ever posted. She and Mom are the best of friends and they are giddy with excitement to be coming together. You guys will love Cindy - she is awesome. She is also my first paying quilting customer (for my midarm), well, except for Mom that is. I am sure we will convince her to get on the forum when we are at retreat!

I haven't heard from Genia and Laura... not sure about them.

Guess I better had get a move on here. Was kinda waiting to be sure that we both got our vacations at that time...Just found out this week that we did...soooooo

Would you please put Laura and me down for breakfast Thursday morning.

As for likes and dislikes....Laura likes bright colors especially fuschia and lime green...also she has a fondness for the color combo of peach and seafoam green.

Genia (who likes to think of herself as a PURPLE PERSON) really likes BRIGHTS...anything..I'm also into polka dots...of course I LOVE LOVE LOVE elephants and hummingbirds.

Does anyone know what Pat and Nancy like colorwise.

Thanks

Genia

My favorite color is also warm yellow ...

I also like green and orange, autumn colors, and blue ...

Sadly, though ... there is some question as to whether I am going to be able to travel to Tomball this year ...

I have discussed this with Jess and will let everyone know by January if I will be able to join all of you ... or not ...   Pat

Cindy lou... no olives for me but I can always take them off. Get one with everything on it. hehe  I am in my sewing room right now cleanin out, not thinking of sewing anything just gettin ready for after the 1st of year to never come out. This year off has been hell in more ways than one. But I have ideas dancing in my head as soon as I can find everything. I literally have not put everything away since TOMBALL.

So I take it we are going on Wednesday again????

I'm planning on arriving on Wednesday! Jeez it's closer than I thought! Better get moving on my goodies! They are all cut out (well, most of them! ).

From Diane, "Yes, several of the pizza places deliver - Dominos, Pizza Hut, etc. You just have to give them the gate code so they can get in." I like my pizza with everything!!
I've been really slow in the sewing/quilting department...just can't seem to get motivated around here. Hopefully that will change after the Hoildays. I have to do something different with the sewing area. I may end up having to move everything to the base-ment so there are less distractions and I don't have to pick up the sewing mess everytime I turn around.

Oh and I have another idea that we do at the other retreats for those who want too. Bring your unwanted scraps and fq's or just plain ugly fabric for a swap. We could do a white elephant as it pretains to sewing unwanted magazines and books if y'all would like also. You never know for the folks that like scrappy quilts it adds to their collection. I am starting you the Tomball Stash as we speak.  lol

Oh, lots of great ideas going on here!

Nancy - Love your idea about swapping unwanted quilty things!! I have some notions too, no idea why I have them.... would never use them.

Regarding the Mystery Quilt: I am thinking of something that is less time consuming than last year. I think that we would all like to finish it while we are there, without trying to kill ourselves doing it. Also, I will only release one Installment each day, so if you are a fast sewer, bring something else to work on in the later part of each day.

Does everyone want to do all of the shops in one day again like last year? Or split them up into a couple of different outings?

I think I may plan a couple of additional group activities at the retreat to break up the Mystery quilt a bit. Fun stuff! Perhaps a couple of quick tutorials on techniques... perhaps some of you want to do one? Things like 'y' seams, prairie points, etc. I think I will do a 'y' seam tutorial... I know a cool way to do them and it is super easy.

Thoughts?

listen up, y'all!!  just read on facebook that kim colgrove (or is it colegrove??) has stage 1 breast cancer.  kim was one of our original tomballers - just so all the tomball-newbies know who we are talking about   kim is very very sweet and shy and just the last person you would think of this happening to.  so keep her in your thoughts & prayers!!  prognosis is good, altho i think there will be about 3 reconstructive surgeries.  i'll read (rather than skim) the comments later and let y'all know more!

Young or older, breast cancer is still devastating! She will definately be in my prayers!

There is a lady I know in our community that had just had her second child when she was diagnosed. They did her surgeries and then she did chemo. That was about 18 years ago! It can be done!

Prayers and hugs Kim!

Prayers going up for Kim. I know what she's going through, the diagnosis is devastating, but God and prayer and family, and good surgeons etc will bring her through. I didn't need a mastectomy (though I asked for one), just a lumpectomy. Thanks for the heads-up Cindy. Wow, though - stage 1 and needing a mastectomy! I guess it depends on what KIND of BC she has - mine was high-grade invasive ductal (1cm diameter), and the sentinal node was clear - caught early.

Hang in there, Kim!

I had a close friend with BC, we did her a Chicken quilt with prairie point 3d wings. The most colourful birds going. One was done in pink ribbon fabric for her. It kept her warm and brightened her days. Great idea and I'd love to do a block as well. Reason it was chickens the had an egg farm.lol.

Hi Jenn - So sorry to hear that you won't be able to make it! I guess life does get in the way sometimes. We are over capacity though, so this won't free up any spaces. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable, unfortunately.

Well Tomballers, here's some news.....this girlie won't be able to make it this year   Actually, its for good reasons that I won't be coming. It has to do with other trips in the works and my just not wanting to dent the bank account any more than it is. Dustin (son #1) will be graduating from law school in early May - a moment not to be missed for sure. Roy also wondered if we might drive to Nashville to have a look-see, then go on the Paducah for the AQS show at the end of April. Lastly, he has a business trip to India this fall and suggested that I meet him in Hawaii on his way back!!!! Now, since we've been married for 28 years and never had a honeymoon, I think a trip to Hawaii with my sweetie is a no-brainer. I will miss you all so much, but never fear...I've talked with Jess and my deposit for 2011 is on its way to her.

Love you all

I thought I told y'all. Anywhoooo, we stayed at Surside last year in May. They sent a card saying if we stayed between now and the end od April it  would be 25% off our stay. SOOOOOOOO we looked at each other and said why not the beach. So we are going down on April 27th. And getting Married on the 29th. His b'day is june 29 mine is NOv 29th so the 29th is our day.  :)  And the mayor's wife of Surfside is helping planning the Jp there she says we should get married on the beach we are still working on that part. AS FOR RINGS??? WELL, I finally went and looked the other day, it was depressing it was like picking out wall paper there were too many to choose from. Not a thing jumped out. So I have a jeweler finding me a diamond and a setting. I am suppose to call him tomorrow to go look again about my specifications. But I promise as soon as I find one I will post a pic for you guys.  I found a tea lenght dress online yesterday I think I am gonna order. Steve is gonna wear jeans and a white shirt. And I am going to be barefoot if it is not too cool that day. It will be just us,  we wanted just for us and private. Then later in the spring we will have an open house and invited the families. I am really gettin excited bout all of this. I can not believe I am eating "crow". I thought I would never get married or want too after last year. So there you have it... more to follow when I know.

Nanci ! ... Congratulations!!   ... (Now, y'all know none of us are surprised, we all knew in Tomball last year that a lovely lady like yourself would be snapped up quick, sweetie ;-) ... you are going to have to be very good about divulging all the details for the rest of us to live vicariously ...

particularly those of us who will be missing Tomball this year ...

yes ... my friends ... the time has come for me to let everyone know that I will not be joining you this year ...

it is a family thing ... I just cannot be away in March ...

I will dearly miss y'all ... have fun ...

I will hopefully be sewing along with you at home ...   Pat

Hi ladies I'm so looking forward to meeting you in March. Like Cindy # 1 i love to talk, so we should get along well. I have trouble with words alot so you all will get to fill in the blanks to my Cindyisms as Miss Connie calls them. I'm extremely allergic to oranges so please none in any form at the retreat unless you want to kill me. I'm also allergic to shrimp but nothing tops oranges. My favorite colors are purple, fushia, and deep pink. I love anything lodge especially moose, bears and trees. I will be glad to make Sundays dessert. I just can't wait to meet you and have fun sewing with you and i really want that Diva Quilt i saw and the door at your klast retreat that one of you made. It is adorable. I love stuff like that. See you soon, keep on Quilting, Love and kisses to all my so to be new freinds. Cindy Nash

OMG!!!! There is another Cindy coming?????? I do not know if I can handle 2 of you (Twins).  And Cindy  poorThreadhead is still not quilted. Maybe I should quilt her at retreat and put an end to her misery, bless her heart.  And you are right the pattern is called Quilt Diva she was fun to make. ( A couple of years ago) I think you will have a great time and will will not make you eat any oranges or shrimp.

Cindy-

I want to make sure...does the allergy include powdered drink mixes? I want to make sure so I don't bring orange (actually strawberry-orange-banana) water mix with me. I have other favorite flavors so it's not a problem. And is it just ornages or does it include all citrus?

It is so "nice" to meet you and can't wait to do it in person at the retreat.

hehehe nancy, we'll have to see if tomball can handle TWO cindy's

tell y'all what, so you don't get us confused whilst at tomball, just call me Menace or perhaps Ms Tassels . . . i'll try to remember to answer to either ;)

MiMi/Cindy - it will be a treat to meet you at tomball!  we'll do whatever we can to make sure you don't come into contact with anything that triggers your allergies.  my bro-il-law is so allergic to shrimp he cannot even eat foods that were cooked in dishes that had even touched shrimp before - even dishes that were cleaned thoroughly!  is your allergy that bad?  we might need to know!

Yes my orange and shrimp alleries are as bad as Ms Tassels bro-in-law so if it is real oranges in juice or anything it will affect me. I can eat any other cictrus except tangerines and passion fruit. Weird huh! Also any other seafood as long as it has not touched or been cooked with shrimp. Less than 2 months for Tomball, yea. Hug and kisses, Cindy Nash

Okie Dokie - Let’s all remember not to bring oranges or shrimp or use them in any of our recipes.

Cindy Nash - Be aware that retreaters use this kitchen all year long and you can be assured that oranges and shrimp have been cooked in the kitchen dishes prior to our arrival, at some point in time. All of the dishes will have been cleaned, of course, since they were used by other retreaters. All of our meals while we are at retreat will be cooked in the dishes there.

Ladies, I know our new Cindy, and you guys are going to love her. I have never met her in person, but when I call her (I quilt her quilts) we sometimes chat away an hour or two. She is that easy to get along with.

MEAL UPDATE:

I messed with the meals a bit to make sure that everyone has one meal they are in charge of (if you are sharing a meal between two of you, then you will need to do two meals together.)

Cindy, Jami, and Nancy - The three of you were doing two meals on Thursday, so I went ahead and gave you guys all three of the meals that day so the three of you now have three meals together.

Genia and Laura - You two were signed up for one brunch. I gave you another brunch so that there are two meals for the two of you.

If the 12th spot is filled, that person will be in charge of dinner on Sunday. If not, we will do the pizza thing. Be sure to have a little cash on you (small bills please) so that we can split this bill easily.

Ladies, remember these meals can be as simple or as complicated as you like. If you want to buy a frozen lasagna for a dinner meal, go for it. If you want to get fruit and yogurt for a brunch, sounds great. If you want to do pancakes and sausage, etc. - that is fine. Desserts can be homemade yummies or store purchased quickies. Clear as mud?

Just remember - no oranges, no shrimp.

By the way, the Mystery quilt is NOT designed to take you the full five days. Bring something else to work on if you want. I am going to do a couple of tutorials (for those who are interested) on easy breezy y seams and maybe something else.

I will only give out one day's worth of installments on the Mystery quilt each day. If you are a speedy piecer, you may want to have something else to work on each day. This is a great time to get some of those UFO's finished up, or even bring something that you might need a bit of help/input on to finish.

The Saturday outting - So far we have it planned just like last year. I am going to try and make us a reservation at Goodson's. If I can't make a reservation there, I will probably choose a different place for that dinner where we won't have to wait so long (waisting precious sewing time!).

I got the 12th spot filled!! And I have company on the long ride to Texas!!!

My sister is going to come and join us at Tomball! I talked with Jess this afternoon to make sure there was still room. Her name is Jona McGrath and her favorite colors are Purples and Pinks. Cindy and Nancy- She will be helping us with all the meals on Thursday.

She is a fairly new quilter...so is halfway scared of all of us from the git go!   She is hoping that you all will be able to jump in and help if she is having a problem with any of her quilting. I think she is better than she wants to give herself credit for, but you all know how it is sometimes!

Hehe, how many of you are standing around stamping your feet impatiently at me?????

Enhance your calm. It won't be in the next few days. I generally post the cutting chart 2-4 weeks in advance. I am working on it, and I will order kits Monday. I am going to try and get some super-fabulous stuff from Northcott, but that depends on if they can get it to me in time.

Today I am trying to enhance my own calm and not throw my phone and void the warranty before hubby takes it to the store.

Ladies, I have not heard from Genia and Laura, despite several attempts at communication. Have any of you heard from them?

Well Ladies

Finally paid for Tomball, my flight and my motel for Tuesday so just counting the days now before I go to Tomball.  I had every intention of making gifts for everyone but as time is so limited now and life has been so hectic may have to resort to bought gifts this year - hope you all understand!

Looking forward to meeting old friends again and also making new ones! ((((hugs))))

I was just thinking of door prizes!! If everyone brings one, we can do the white elephant swap again. We always have a few extra laying around, but I don't have anyone but Jami and I down for doing a door prize so far. If you are bringing one (or more) door prizes, please let me know.

I won't be making gifts for everyone either, but then, I never have. I did just order my gifts and I am so excited about them!

Also ordered the fabric for the kits. It will be here only 7-10 days before the retreat. However, the cutting chart is pretty simple and we do have time this year to cut at the retreat, if you want to do so. I will let you guys know as soon as the kits arrive. I ordered two colorways of Stonehenge from Northcott. (Warm and Cool.... lots of purples!). Milica, you might even like these as they have a batiky look to them, though they are cottons. And if you haven't sewn with Northcott before, they aren't kidding when they say that they are cottons that feel like silk - they are soooo yummy and easy to use!

Okie Dokie. Don't forget to let me know if you are bringing a door prize so I know how many I am responsible for!

Oh, yes, Milica, you WILL like them! I saw some of them at one of the quilt shops here, and they are great! Some look like marble, too.

Okay, give me a little more info about door prizez and I will pick up one too! Is it quilty things or could it be personal things and a price range? I have an idea but if you answer those questions I'll know if my idea will work!

Looking forward to the fabric Jess! I love batiks!

I've just checked the front page and you have not put me down for a door prize.  I did say that I would bring a door prize.

It's a pity about Genia and Laura - I was looking forward to meeting them as I'm sure the other Tomballers were.

And also Jess, Nikki is leaving for a wedding in Ky on the 3rd of March.

She was wondering if you would have the kits available before that.

If not she wants me to ask if you could send her photos on her phone so she could pick hers out from that.

She will be back late on the 7th and will have just enough time to unpack, wash laundry and repack for Tomball! So she will be cutting when we get there I am sure!

Have I told yall how excited I am lately?

Just can't help myself!

Hello 2010 Tomballers!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I am working away at it Jami. I have some help in the form of my hubby tonight - he will be taking care of the kiddos for me so I can work.

Sherry and Nikki - I will have the kits up in the next few days.

Anyone who wants a kit and wants to cut it at the retreat, just let me know. I will bring your kit to you rather than shipping it. There will be plenty of time to cut at the retreat this year, as the pattern is much less time consuming than last years multiple funky monkeys.

Man, I missed all of the posts about door prizes.

Sherry - They can be anything. We use some of them (usually the ones I bring) for prizes during the Mystery. We use the rest of them (if there is enough) to play a white elephant gift exchange. Anything in the door prize that you would like to take home from the retreat. Some of them have been hand made items (purses, aprons, etc.). Some of them have been quilting notions, books, charm packs, etc. Some have been fun non-quilty stuff.

I am going to update the door prize list. Let me know if you are bringing one but not on there.

Jami, Jona, Cindy and Nancy - I only have you ladies down for three meals. Would you mind taking up one of the brunches left open when Genia and Laura cancelled? I will take over the other one.

By the way Sherry and Nikki - The dinner/dessert you described sounds soooooooo yummy!

My door prizes and gifts for everyone came in the other day, and I am so excited! It is all I can to not to tell everyone about them. Hehe.

Okay, Thanks Jess. I told Nikki and she said what we would do is just have it shipped to my house so I could get it washed and ironed and ready to cut when we get there. She just wanted to be able to pick which one she wanted.

And go ahead and put me down for 2 door prizes! Sounds like we are gonna have loads of fun and I just can't wait!

Have I told yall lately how excited I am?

NOOOOO PITY PARTIES! You shall join us in spirit and cross fingers that you will join next year! I have been tossing around the idea of doing a retreat later in the year in a different part of the US. Pity partiers: would you attend if it was closer to you?

I am working on the cutting chart still, I am so sorry. This week has just gotten away from me. I hope to post it by the end of the weekend, at the latest. Crazy weekend ahead, but it should be great!

The fabric is on its way, and I will post the kits as soon as the cutting chart is up.

LOL Jess, you can't stop our pity party!

Whoever wants to join us, can. We'll hang out here on that weekend and enjoy the laughter and fun of the Tomballers from afar. We'll share our pictures of the mystery quilt and eat virtual brownies and other goodies.

How's that sound?!

Add me to the pity-party, sounds like so much fun. maybe someday. Jess, not enough of us in the PNW for you to ever come here I know, but maybe someday I'll be rich and famous. ;) and yes, I do not buy lottery tickets either so I'll never hit the big one.

Whoops!  Re-read that and it sounds like I think the pity party is fun, LOL!!  No I meant the retreat sounds like fun.

and now I re-read Dorian's post and her pity-party DOES sound like fun! I really don't know what I think do I?

Hi Ladies! Well it has been forever since I posted so I thought I would just let you all know that I am still alive and kicking. I'm looking forward to the retreat and I know we will all have a wonderful time. I'm cooking chicken and dumplins on Wed night. I'm bringing a door prize too. I don't know if I'll get goodies hand made or store bought but will come up with something very soon!! You will all love Cindy Nash, she is a Mama Bear and will instantly be trying to take care of everyone!! LOL!!! So did we decide to bring ugly fabric? I know I need to bring 6 FQs for the game and the door prize, and the goodies, as well as my personal stuff. Anything else I need to remember?

Looking forward to all the fun!!!

3 Days!!

I'm getting there! We are leaving in the morning from Iowa. We are just going as far as Kansas City on Monday (Jona has to work in the morning for a bit). We will stop at Andi & Damien's for a short little visit. Andi is my niece and I'm hoping she lets me "pat" the tummy while there...she is pregnant  & due in August...we are so excited to be welcoming this little baby BOY into the family!

I think I have my projects picked out and almost all of them are packed. I just don't know what I'm going to want to work on for extra stuff, so I packed ALOT!! (note to self...DO NOT FORGET SEWING MACHINE!!! ) Haven't even started getting my clothes together. I better get the washing machine running so everything is clean.

I started gathering yesterday! Not clothes mind ya! Just the sewing stuff! Still trying to decide what to take to work on while I'm there besides the mystery! Gonna make final decisions today! I have court tomorrow and it will be a long day so packing will be on Tuesday. Nothing like waiting til the last minute! Atleast I will have everything clean!

Nikki won't be home from Kentucky til late tonight and she will be unpacking, and washing all day tomorrow. Then she has a Dr. appt on Tuesday morning so she is gonna be repacking last minute too! But man I can't wait to get on the road! I told Nikki we were leaving EARLY Wed. am!!! I probably won't be able to sleep Tues. niight, I am so excited!

Have a safe trip Jami! See you when we get there!

Everyone have a FABULOUS time in Tomball....sorry I couldn't make it. Will have to do it another time. Pave the way for me in the quilt shops---I am planning on doing the Houston Shop Hop that starts on the 19th.

Kailee'sMamie' - 2010-03-07 6:57 AM hellllllllooooooo are we packed yet??????? nooooooooooooooooooooo I have not even started...... I better get cracking huh?

well nancy since i have already gotten my annual "exactly what time you gonna leave and get here" phone call then yeah, i'd have to say you better get cracking    wuvs ya, nancy!

we just got in from MS - that bag is unpacked, washer and drying are already running - my list to what to pack is getting whittled down . . .

i'm so excited . . .
and i just can't hide it . . .
i'm about to lose control
and i think i like it i like it

i must confess . . . i am sad about ONE thing . . . well TWO things . . . first, that ms. pat, lizzie, genia & laura won't be able to join us   second, i did not get my treats for y'all finished   altho i can bring them and finish up the final little detail whilst i am there - and y'all that aren't gonna get to be there - yours will be on their way to y'all soon as i get them finished and in the mail - first thing on the agenda after i get home

Well... I got most of the Q&N stuff packed and my personal sewing stuff, including most of my projects that I am doing, packed. A couple are still washing, but the last load is in the washer. So, so, so much more to do. Can I just sleep all day Wednesday after we get there?

Hi Ladies

I am all packed and luggage is in the car ready for us to start our journey to the airport at 5am.  My flight is at 10.05am and I am hoping for a nice smooth flight through to Houston.  Can't wait till I see my quilty friends again and to meet new friends.

Here's hoping that everyone has a safe journey.

Safe travels to you all.  I'll be at work this weekend so unable to even join in on the Mystery.     Will be thinking about how much fun you'll all be having and also about the nice warm weather (compared to SD) you'll be in.  Have a great retreat! Learn lots and laugh even more.  (((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))

Hey Ladies! I finally finished up everything on my list except for my packing. One load of laundry still going but I'm headed to my sewing room to pack that stuff. The clothes are farther down the priority list and will get done after the sewing stuff! LOL! Hope everyone has a safe, uneventful trip and I can't wait to see you all!!! And I get to see my grandbabies too!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting ready to go to San Antonio next week. Would have been nice to have gone to Tomball, but I suppose my grandson would have been disappointed. He might not have understood that a quilt retreat comes before his graduation from boot camp at Lackland AFB. s'pose??? LOL Glad you are having fun there and possibly sewing? LOL

Finally landed on UK soil at 7.15 am this morning and played hide and seek with Geoff in the arrivals lounge! - we finally met up and drove home arriving at 9.30.  Did a little unpacking and then dozed for 6 hours!  The plane home this time was absolutely full - there were two groups, a group of 40 something retired couples travelling to Europe and a group of 50 something mexicans travelling to Rome.  My legs are still very red and swollen and hope to get a doctor's appointment tmrw to get some antibiotics so they can get back to normal.

Had a great time at Tomball and it was fab catching up with old friends and making new ones as well.  Sherry and Nikki were so sweet for taking me to the airport later so I wouldn't have to wait too long for my flight.  Thankfully I don't go back to work until next Monday so have some time to get over my jetlag and catch up on some housework and sewing ready for my next retreat on the 26th March.

so glad everyone is getting home safe & sound!

i got home later monday than anticipated - there was apparently a bad wreck in jackson, ms, which held up traffic for over an hour!  right at the I-55/I-20 exchange too . . . then once i got into alabama and hit the birmingham loop, the powers-that-be decided that monday was a wonderful day to pave and re-stripe TWO of the 3 lanes of the loop so more delay . . . then once i finally got back on 20, there was not one, but TWO construction zones that held up traffic!  gosh the backup was horrible!  but i finally got home about 3 hours later than i normally would have.

i'll get my pics posted soon as i get caught up on things around here!  carter has been taking top priority of course

Y'all remember the quilt Cindy S. (Dana's mom) was working on at retreat? It was in our local show this weekend and took first place in small traditional pieced. GO CINDY! And, just so you know, Dana designed the applique for the border. Lovely!

Remember the unfriendly fabrics I had to use in a quilt that I had pinned to the wall behind me all weekend....   It was auctioned off for $125 to go to the guild's scholarship fund.
